Negin Zomorodi
Negin Zomorodi (; also as "Negin Zomorrodi", ; born 22 April 1973 in Tehran) is an Iranian composer and pianist. Biography Negin Zomorodi was born in 1973 in Tehran. She began playing the piano at childhood under the instruction of such renowned masters as Voski Ohanessian and Farimah Qavam-Sadri. After graduating in textile engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) in 1996, motivated by her love for music, she pursued music composition more seriously than before, which ultimately led to her entrance to Tehran University of Art, and she did an MA in music composition in 2009. Zomorodi also took specialized courses in music theory and harmony at The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto, Canada and got up-to-date with these fields. Fajr International Music Festival
Fajr International Music Festival () is Iran's most prestigious Music Festival founded in 1986. The festival is affiliated with UNESCO and includes national and international competition sections. Since its establishment, many musicians from several countries like Austria, Germany, France participated in the event. The festival have enjoyed a strong presence of Asian countries as well. The 22nd Fajr International Music Festival was held in January 2007. Setar
A setar (, ) (lit: "Three String (music), Strings") is a stringed instrument, a type of lute used in Persian traditional music, played solo or accompanying voice. It is a member of the tanbur family of long-necked lutes with a range of more than two and a half Octave, octaves. Originally a three stringed instrument, a fourth string was added by Mushtaq Ali Shah by the mid 19th century. It is played with the index finger of the right hand. It has been speculated that the setar originated in Persia by the 9th century AD A more conservative estimate says "it originated in the 15th century, or even earlier." Although related to the tanbur, in recent centuries, the setar has evolved so that, musically, it more closely resembles the Tar (string instrument), tar, both in Musical tuning, tuning and playing style.
