Neeraj Zimba
Neeraj Zimba Tamang (14 November 1981) is an Indian Gorkha politician. He is the Central Committee Member and presently Secretary General and Legal Adviser of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF). He was GNLF Spokesperson till 2019. He is also a practicing Criminal Lawyer by profession. He served as an MLA in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from the 23-Darjeeling Assembly constituency after winning on a BJP ticket in 2019 by polls. Early life and education He was born to Tekdhoj Tamang Zimba and hails from Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. He obtained his Master Degree (M.A.) in Political Science from Annamalai University in 2012 and also holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) from The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University. Gorkhaland
The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration is a semi-autonomous council for the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal state in India. The GTA was formed in 2012 to replace the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, which was formed in 1988 and administered the Darjeeling hills for 23 years. GTA presently consists of three hill subdivisions Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik, some areas of Siliguri subdivision of Darjeeling district and the whole of Kalimpong district under its authority. Tamang People
The Tamang (; Devanagari: तामाङ; ''tāmāṅ'') are an Tibeto-Burmese ethnic group of Nepal. In Nepal Tamang/Moormi people constitute 5.6% of the Nepalese population at over 1.3 million in 2001, increasing to 1,539,830 as of the 2011 census. Tamang people are also found in significant numbers in the Indian state of Sikkim and districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong in West Bengal state of India and various districts in the southern foothills of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Subhash Ghisingh
Subash Ghisingh was an Indian politician who was the leader of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF), which he founded in 1980. He was the chairman of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council in West Bengal, India from 1988 to 2008. He spearheaded the Gorkhaland movement in the 1980s. The Gorkhaland movement grew from the demand of Gorkhas living in Darjeeling District of West Bengal for a separate state. The Gorkhaland National Liberation Front led the movement, which disrupted the district with massive violence between 1986 and 1988, leading to the deaths of many who were involved. The issue was resolved, at least temporarily, in 1988 with the establishment of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council within West Bengal. After a prolonged illness, Subhash Ghisingh died on 29 January 2015 at Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi.
