Neath North is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales falling within the community of Neath. Neath North includes some or all of the neighbourhoods of Llantwit and Neath town centre in the parliamentary constituency of Neath. It is bounded by the wards of Bryncoch South to the northwest; Cadoxton to the North; Tonna to the northeast; Cimla to the southeast; Neath South to the south; and Neath East to the southwest. Neath Port Talbot ( cy, Castell-nedd Port Talbot) is a county borough in the south-west of Wales. Its principal towns are Neath, Port Talbot, Briton Ferry and Pontardawe. The county borough borders Bridgend County Borough and Rhondda Cynon Taf to the east, Powys and Carmarthenshire to the north; and Swansea to the west. Glamorgan County Council
Glamorgan County Council was established in 1889 together with the administrative county of Glamorganshire under the Local Government Act 1888. The first elections to the council were held in January 1889. The council was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 on 1 April 1974. Derek Vaughan
Derek Vaughan is a Welsh Labour politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Wales between 2009 and 2019. Early life and career Vaughan was born in Merthyr Tydfil, first studying at Afon Taf High School before working locally as an engineering apprentice and later for the Valuation Office Agency. He then went on to study Politics and History at Swansea University after which he returned to the Valuation Agency and then full-time as a trades union official for the Public and Commercial Services Union, a role he held until 2004. Cimla is a suburb of the town of Neath in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. It is set high up on a hill. It is pronounced Kim-la. The Welsh language spelling is Cymla, pronounced the same way. Its meaning is a place with common land, which it presumably (being land on a hill above previous settlement) was until industrial expansion led to its being covered with housing. Cimla consists of a residential area in the western central area, which is part of the built-up area of the town of Neath. The residential area is surrounded to the north, east, and south by open moorland. The whole of Cimla is set on high ground. It is home to the Cimla football club, formed in 1983, who play their games on Cefn Saeson playing fields. English is the most spoken language, with Welsh having minimal use.
