Navy Day (Turkmenistan)
The Day of the Navy of Turkmenistan ( Turkmen: Türkmenistanyň harby-deňiz güni) is an official holiday of Turkmenistan. It was established in 2011 following an appeal by defense minister Yaylym Berdiyev to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. It was set on 9 October in honor of the presidential working visit to one of the military units located in a suburb in the city of Turkmenbashi. It is celebrated on October 9 and honors the founding of the Turkmen Naval Forces. Navy Day 2013 In 2013, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Balkan province, where he met with the officers of the military units of the Ministry of Defence, seamen and cadets of the Navy. Navy Day 2015 In 2015, President Berdimuhamedov inaugurated new buildings of Naval Institute in Turkmenbashi on the occasion of Navy Day. Türkmenbaşy, previously known as Shagadam (), Krasnovodsk () and Kyzyl-Su, is a city in Balkan Region, Balkan Province in western Turkmenistan, on the Türkmenbaşy Gulf of the Caspian Sea. It sits at an elevation of . The population (est 2004) was 86,800, mostly ethnic Turkmens but also Russians, Russian, Armenians, Armenian and Azerbaijanis, Azeri minorities. President Of Turkmenistan
The president of Turkmenistan (), officially the president and chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, is the head of state and head of government of Turkmenistan. The president is also the supreme commander in chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and heads the State Security Council. Serdar Berdimuhamedow is the current president of Turkmenistan, the third in the history of the country since it gained independence with the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. He succeeded his father, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow when the latter stepped down in 2022 after a reign of 15 years, the first president to do so. Turkmen Language
Turkmen (, , , or , , , ) is a Turkic language of the Oghuz branch spoken by the Turkmens of Central Asia. It has an estimated 4.7 million native speakers in Turkmenistan (where it is the official language), and a further 359,000 speakers in northeastern Iran and 1.2 million people in northwestern Afghanistan, where it has no official status. Gurbanguly Mälikgulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow (born 29 June 1957) is a Turkmen politician and former dentist who is currently the chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen Naval Forces ( Turkmen: ''Türkmenistanyň Harby-deňiz Güýçleri'') is the naval warfare branch of the armed forces of Turkmenistan. State Security Council Of Turkmenistan
The State Security Council of Turkmenistan () is an important decision-making body in the field of the defence of Turkmenistan. It is the highest decision-making body in the armed forces next to the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, with its members directly advising the President of Turkmenistan on matters of national security. According to the 1995 Law on defence, the council is chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, who can define the powers and actions of the Security Council.
