Navotas Polytechnic College
The Navotas Polytechnic College also referred to by its acronym NPC, is a public, non-sectarian, coeducational higher education institution run by the city government of Navotas in Navotas City, Metro Manila, Phiippines. It was founded in 1994 by virtue of Municipal Ordinance (M.O). No. 94-06 of the Municipal Council of Navotas (now City of Navotas), which was signed on May 18, 1994. In over 15 years of existence, the Navotas Polytechnic College has grown into a respected public type college in Navotas. At present NPC offers degree programs in business administration, education, computer technology, short-term courses. A local government unit (LGU) maybe a barangay, a municipality, city, or a province that puts up a post-secondary institution based on Section 447(a)(5)(x) (Municipality), 458(a)(5)(x) (City), and 468(a)(4)(iii) (Province) of thLocal Government Code of 1991 which provide that "subject to availability of funds and to existing laws, rules and regulations the" LGU "shall establish and provide for the operation of vocational and technological schools and similar post-secondary institutions and, with approval of the Department of Education, fix and collect reasonable fees and other school charges at said institutions, subject to existing laws on tuition fees." Navotas
Navotas, officially the City of Navotas ( fil, Lungsod ng Navotas), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 247,543 people. It is known as the ''Commercial Fishing Hub of the Philippines'', for the city has the third largest fish port in Asia and the largest in Southeast Asia. Although it was established on December 20, 1827, Navotas celebrates its foundation day every January 16, the day in 1906 when it finally separated from Malabon.
