Naval Radio Section Aldergrove
Naval Radio Section Aldergrove, or NRS Aldergrove, is a Canadian Forces naval radio communications facility located in both Aldergrove and Matsqui, British Columbia. NRS Aldergrove is the Royal Canadian Navy's primary communications relay site for Maritime Forces Pacific. The Aldergrove receiving site is located 59 kilometres east of Vancouver, British Columbia in the community of Aldergrove whereas the Matsqui transmitter site is located 21 kilometres northeast of Aldergrove. The Aldergrove receiving site comprises while Matsqui comprises . About of the Aldergrove site are used for the antenna field, while the remainder is used as an electromagnetic interference (EMI) buffer zone from local development. Currently, Aldergrove and Matsqui are staffed with 1 operator and between 15 and 17 technicians. Canadian Forces Base
A Canadian Forces base or CFB () is a military installation of the Canadian Armed Forces. For a facility to qualify as a Canadian Forces base, it must station one or more major units (e.g., army regiments, navy ships, air force wings). Minor installations are named Canadian Forces station or CFS (). A Canadian Forces station could host a single minor unit (e.g., an early-warning radar station). Many of these facilities are now decommissioned for administrative purposes and function as detachments of a larger Canadian Forces base nearby. NRS Mill Cove
Canadian Forces Station Mill Cove (CFS Mill Cove) is a former Canadian Forces Station and currently a naval radio station located near Hubbards, Nova Scotia. Built in 1967, it is remotely operated by the Canadian Forces from CFB Halifax. History CFS Mill Cove was established in 1967 on the Aspotogan Peninsula 50 km west of Halifax on the shores of St. Margaret's Bay near the village of Hubbards. The station replaced NRS Albro Lake which was the primary receiving station for naval communications on the Atlantic coast. Encroaching urban development in Dartmouth was creating interference with NRS Albro Lake reception. Alder
Alders are trees of the genus ''Alnus'' in the birch family Betulaceae. 15th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA, is a Primary Reserve Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) regiment based in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the Bessborough Armoury. 15th Field Regiment is part of the 39 Canadian Brigade Group of 3rd Canadian Division. The regiment was created in 1920 as one of the recommendations of the Otter Committee. In the Second World War it manned the coastal defence artillery guns that protected the Port of Vancouver. Naval Radio Section Newport Corner (NRS Newport Corner) is a Canadian Forces naval radio station located in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia. Founded in 1942, it is still in operation today but remotely controlled from CFB Halifax.
