Nautla, Veracruz
Nautla () is a settlement in the Mexican state of Veracruz. ''Nautla'' comes from the Nahuatl ''naui'', 'four'; and from ''tlan'', that means 'place'; so it is known as 'Four Places'. History First it was a prehispanic town that was in Casitas, Veracruz. Now it is in the municipality of Nautla. In 1519, the Totonacos had an alliance with the Spaniards and they had a battle. Nautla was destroyed by the fire. In the 16th century the king gave to Juan de Cuenca the lands of the actual Nautla, San Sebastian, and La Peña, so that they established the residence of where to stay. Misantla River
Misantla is a city in the Mexico, Mexican List of states of Mexico, state of Veracruz, the administrative seat of the Municipalities of Veracruz, municipality ''(municipio (Mexico), municipio)'' of the same name. The municipality is bordered by Martínez de la Torre, Colipa and Papantla. Misantla is located in the valley of the Misantla River in the Sierra de Chiconquiaco. Travelwise, Misantla is about from the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico; however, the roads to the coast are not reliable. Nautla River
The Nautla River is a river of Mexico. The river starts on the northern slope of Cofre de Perote volcano under the names Altotonga or Alseseca and flows northeastwards to empty into the Gulf of Mexico. Totonac
The Totonac are an Indigenous people of Mexico who reside in the states of Veracruz, Puebla, and Hidalgo. They are one of the possible builders of the pre-Columbian city of El Tajín, and further maintained quarters in Teotihuacán (a city which they claim to have built). Until the mid-19th century they were the world's main producers of vanilla. The Totonac people cultivated vanilla in Papantla, but faced with competition when the French island of Réunion entered the market. This group of people also encountered conflicts over land ownership during the course of the 19th and early 20th centuries, as the privatization of communal land in Papantla became more of a concern to local elites.
