Christiaan Frederick Beyers Naudé (10 May 1915 – 7 September 2004) was a South African Afrikaner Calvinist Dominee, theologian and the leading Afrikaner anti-apartheid activist. He was known simply as Beyers Naudé, or more colloquially, ''Oom Bey'' (Afrikaans for "Uncle Bey"). Early life and education One of eight children, Beyers Naudé was born to Jozua François Naudé and Adriana Johanna Naudé (née) van Huyssteen in Roodepoort, Transvaal (now Gauteng). The progenitor of the Naudé name was a French Huguenot refugee named Jacques Naudé who arrived in the Cape in 1718.. Gabriel Naudé
Gabriel Naudé (2 February 1600 – 10 July 1653) was a French librarian and scholar. He was a prolific writer who produced works on many subjects including politics, religion, history and the supernatural. In 1627, he published an influential book in the field of library science called ''Advice on Establishing a Library''. Naudé was later able to put into practice all the ideas he had put forth in ''Advice'' when he was given the opportunity to build and maintain the Bibliothèque Mazarine, the library of Cardinal Jules Mazarin at Paris. Pieter Hugo Naudé, better known as Hugo Naudé, (1869–1941) was a South African painter. Hugo Naudé is one of South Africa’s pioneer artists and is largely regarded as the country’s first professional artist. Early years Naudé was born and raised on his family's farm, Aan de Doorns, in Worcester, Western Cape – an area whose dramatic landscape inspired much of his output throughout his life. Naudé showed great artistic talent from a young age and was encouraged by his family to pursue it. Annelize Naudé (born 1 January 1977) is a Dutch former professional squash (sport), squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 13 in January 2006, and won five Women's International Squash Players Association, WISPA tour titles as well as having been the runner-up nine times since 1996. Peter Naudé (born 1950s) is a British academic who is organisational theorist and Professor of Marketing at the Manchester Business School, known for his work on business networks. Life and work Naudé obtained his Phd in Marketing 1992 at the Manchester Business School. Jozua François "Tom" Naudé (15 April 1889 – 31 May 1969) was a South African politician who served as acting state president of South Africa from 1967 to 1968. A National Party politician for many years, he served as Minister of Posts and Telegraphs from 1950 to 1954, as Minister of Health from 1954 to 1958, and as Minister of Finance from 1958 to 1961. He was then appointed President of the Senate of South Africa, and in terms of the South African Constitution of 1961 he would be required ''ex officio'' under a dormant commission to act as State President of South Africa whenever that office was vacant. Afrikaner Broederbond
The Afrikaner Broederbond (AB) or simply the Broederbond was an exclusively Afrikaner Calvinist and male secret society in South Africa dedicated to the advancement of the Afrikaner people. It was founded by H. J. Klopper, H. W. van der Merwe, D. H. C. du Plessis and the Rev. Jozua Naudé in 1918 as Jong Zuid Afrika () until 1920, when it was renamed the Broederbond.
