Carl-Olof Morfeldt
Carl-Olof Morfeldt (1919–2003) was a Swedish geologist and businessman. He was a founder and CEO of Hagconsult AB, an enterprise dedicated to geotechnical consultancy. In 1964, he became also its majority shareholder. Morfeldt was the foremost authority on geotechnical studies for building in Sweden. An expert on building tunnels and rooms in bedrock, Morfeldt was awarded an honorary doctorate from Chalmers University of Technology in 1979. Curt Fredén
Curt Fredén (born 1937) is a Swedish Quaternary geologist. Most of his work has centered on the Holocene geology of the Baltic Sea. He was a member of the landslide commission () that existed from 1988 to 1996. In 2002 he was awarded the prize Geologist of the Year () by Naturvetarna. He has been editor for ''Berg och jord'', the geology volume of the Swedish National Atlas and worked on various geological maps of Quaternary deposits. Fredén was one of geologists who helped make the High Coast a World Heritage Site. Fredén has notably contributed to advance the understanding of the "enigmatic" Ancylus Lake and to discard the controversial Sveafallen at Degerfors Degerfors () is a locality and the seat of Degerfors Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden, with 7,160 inhabitants in 2010. Maurits Lindström
Maurits Lindström (10 May 1932 – 14 November 2009) was a Swedish geologist and paleontologist. Lindström's initial work was divided among two topics conodont paleontology and the structural geology of the Scandinavian Caledonides in Lappland. In 1970, he described the conodont families Cordylodontidae, Gondolellidae, Proconodontidae and Rhipidognathidae. In 1971, he described the conodont genera '' Baltoniodus'', '' Microzarkodina'' and '' Paracordylodus''.Vom Anfang, Hochstand und Ende eines Epikontinentalmeeres. Vivi Vajda
Vivi Vajda is a Swedish palaeontologist. She is Professor and head of palaeobiology at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Through the study of Microfossil, microscopic fossils such as pollen, plankton, algae, and Fungus, fungi, Vajda's research focuses on Effects of climate change on plant biodiversity, past vegetation changes, plant communities, and mass extinctions. She has also contributed to the understanding of the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction. She is a member of the Royal Physiographic Society in Lund. Life and work Vajda earned her BSc at Lund University, Sweden in 1989 and stayed there to obtain her PhD in 1998. She was a professor at Lund University from 2005 to 2015. Else Marie Friis
Else Marie Friis (born 18 June 1947) is a Danish botanist and paleontologist. She is Professor Emerita in the Department of Geoscience at Aarhus University. Her work has been fundamental in the phylogenetic analysis of angiosperms, with widespread application to reproductive biology. Education and early life The daughter of a bookseller Poul Friis and Marie Møller, she was born in Holstebro, and grew up in Skive, graduating from local school Viborg Katedralskole in 1966. She worked as an au-pair in Paris for a year, becoming interested in geology whilst her brother Henrik was a student in the subject. This inspired her to become an assistant teacher in botany and geology in 1971. Jan Lundqvist
Jan Lundqvist (4 August 1926 – 8 May 2024) was a Swedish geologist and considered among the foremost authorities on the Quaternary geology of Fennoscandia. He was son of Gösta Lundqvist and brother of Thomas Lundqvist, both of whom are geologists. Jan Lundqvist worked at Geological Survey of Sweden from 1951 to 80 and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Quaternary geology at Stockholms högskola in 1958, becoming also a teacher in that institution.
