Natural Boogie
''Natural Boogie'' is the second studio album released by Hound Dog Taylor and his band the HouseRockers. Released on Alligator Records (AL 4704) in 1974, it was the follow-up to their 1971 debut album '' Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers''. Background ''Natural Boogie'' was recorded at Sound Studios in Chicago, and produced by Hound Dog Taylor and Bruce Iglauer. It was Taylor's second album, and the last to be released during his lifetime, although at the time of his death a live album, ''Beware of the Dog'', was already planned.Russell, T. and Smith, C. Hound Dog Taylor
Theodore Roosevelt "Hound Dog" Taylor (April 12, 1915 – December 17, 1975) was an American Chicago blues guitarist and singer. Life and career Taylor was born in Natchez, Mississippi, in 1915, though some sources say 1917. He first played the piano and began playing the guitar when he was 20. He moved to Chicago in 1942. Taylor had a condition known as polydactylism, which resulted in him having six fingers on both hands. As is usual with the condition, the extra digits were rudimentary nubbins and could not be moved. One night, while drunk, he cut off the extra digit on his right hand using a straight razor. He became a full-time musician around 1957, but remained unknown outside the Chicago area, where he played small clubs in black neighborhoods and at the open-air Maxwell Street Market. The Original Instrumental, The Bim Bam Boos, 1959 "You Can't Sit Down" was originally recorded as in instrumental in 1959 as "Can't Sit Down" by The Bim Bam Boos on Dasher Records catalogue number D-500 and credited to Dasher - Muldrow; it featured Phil Upchurch on guitar and Cornell Muldrow on organ. 1963: Vocal Added Version, The Dovells / The Phrase "Hip Hop" The Dovells added dance-themed lyrics and vocals to their cover of the song, which was released as a single in 1963, and also included on their album of the same name. The song peaked at No. 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on April 27, 1963, and charted for 14 weeks. Phillip Upchurch (born July 19, 1941) is an American soul music, R&B, jazz and blues guitarist and bassist. Career Upchurch started his career working with the Kool Gents, the Dells, and the Spaniels, before going on to work with Curtis Mayfield, Otis Rush, and Jimmy Reed. (His association with Kool Gents member Dee Clark would continue, including playing guitar on Clark's 1961 solo hit "Raindrops (Dee Clark song), Raindrops".) Elmore James ( Brooks; January 27, 1918 – May 24, 1963) was an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader.
