Natsushima-class Minelayer (1933)
The was a class of minelayers of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), serving during and after the 1930s through World War II. Their design was based on the , but with increased armament. Ships in class ''Natsushima'' class Project number H5. Three vessels were planned under the Maru 1 Programme. Japanese Minelayer Sarushima
was a small minelayer of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which was in service during World War II. She was named after Sarushima Island, a small island in Tokyo Bay, offshore Yokosuka, Kanagawa. She was designed as an auxiliary minelayer and escort vessel. Building The Maru 1 Supplementary Naval Expansion Budget of 1931 authorized the construction of the huge minelayer as well as three smaller minelayers for coastal and river service, the and as well as ''Sarushima''. Rabaul () is a township in the East New Britain province of Papua New Guinea, on the island of New Britain. It lies about to the east of the island of New Guinea. Rabaul was the provincial capital and most important settlement in the province until it was destroyed in 1994 by falling ash from a volcanic eruption in its harbor. During the eruption, ash was sent thousands of metres into the air, and the subsequent rain of ash caused 80% of the buildings in Rabaul to collapse. Kavieng
Kavieng is the capital of the Papua New Guinean province of New Ireland and the largest town on the island of the same name. The town is located at Balgai Bay, on the northern tip of the island. As of 2009, it had a population of 17,248. Kavieng is the main port for New Ireland, and is both a trading and tourist destination. Several dive companies operate from the town, as the area is known for its diving, both for natural sites and wrecks dating from the Second World War. USS ''Stanly'' (DD-478) was a in service with the United States Navy from 1942 to 1947. She was scrapped in 1972. History USS ''Stanly'' (DD-478) was named for Rear Admiral Fabius Stanly (1815–1882). Japanese Torpedo Boat Tomozuru
was one of four s of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). It capsized in a storm on 12 March 1934, shortly after its completion.
