''Natpu'' () is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Ameerjan and written by Vairamuthu. The film is based on a novel by Vairamuthu that was serialised in ''Kumudam''. It stars Karthik, Sripriya, Radha Ravi and Senthil. The film was released on 11 April 1986, and won two Cinema Express Awards. Plot Cast Production The film was an adaptation of an weekly series which Vairamuthu wrote for ''Kumudam'' magazine. The film was launched at Prasad Studios. K. Balachander clapped the first shot. Vairamuthu Ramasamy (born 13 July 1953) is an Indian lyricist, poet, and novelist working in the Tamil film industry. He is a prominent figure in the Tamil literary world. A master's graduate from the Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai, he first worked as a translator, while also being a published poet. He entered the Tamil film industry in the year 1980, with the film '' Nizhalgal'', an Ilaiyaraaja musical, directed by Bharathiraja. During the course of his 40-year film career, he has written over 7,500 songs and poems which have won him seven National Awards, the most for any Indian lyricist. He has also been honored with a Padma Shri, a Padma Bhushan and a Sahitya Akademi Award, for his abundant literary output. Ameerjan
Ameerjan was an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. He was primarily active in the 1984-1991 and is most noted for his work on films featuring actors Murali and Karthik. Career Ameerjan began his career as a protégé to director K. Balachander and then won critical acclaim for his directorial debut in 1984 with '' Poovilangu'', which starred actors Murali and Kuyili in the lead roles. He went on to direct more than 20 feature films, both in Tamil and Telugu, often collaborating with actors Murali and Karthik. Ameerjan also worked on a high-budget action film '' Siva'' (1989) featuring Rajinikanth as well as on socially relevant films such as '' Thulasi'' (1987). As opportunities declined, he began assisting K. Balachander when he started making television shows and also directed his own shows. Murali Karthikeyan Muthuraman (born 13 September 1960), better known by his stage name Karthik, is an Indian actor, playback singer and politician who works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran actor R. Muthuraman. Known as Navarasa Nayagan, Karthik was one of the biggest stars in the industry in the 80s and 90s.
