National Political Association
In the context of Mexican politics, a national political association ( es, Agrupación política nacional, APN) is a citizens' association intended to assist in the development of democratic life and the country's political culture, as well as being intended to create a better informed public opinion. They are similar to political parties; they used to receive public funding through the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) for the promotion of their activities and ideas, but this was no longer the case after the 2008 political reform; after the 2014 political reform and the transformation of the IFE into INE, only political parties and independent candidates can receive public funding. APNs are not allowed to register candidates for election, though they can publicly support those of other political parties through association agreements and may only do so during federal elections. The Popular Socialist Party ( es, Partido Popular Socialista, PPS) was a communist party in Mexico. It was founded in 1948 as the Popular Party (''Partido Popular'') by Vicente Lombardo Toledano. Lombardo Toledano, the initial leader of the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM), decided to launch a new party in response to the increasingly moderate and corrupt policies of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). The Popular Party was supported by the mine, oil and rail workers' unions, but its potential strength in elections was reduced by the strength of the PRI. The politics of Mexico take place in a framework of a federal presidential representative democratic republic whose government is based on a congressional system, whereby the President of Mexico is both head of state and head of government, and of a multi-party system. The Revolutionary Socialist League (german: Revolutionär Sozialistischen Bund, RSB) was a small Trotskyist group in Germany. It was formed in 1994 as a split from the Association for Solidarity Perspectives (VsP). Socialist Action is a Trotskyist political party in the United States. It publishes the monthly ''Socialist Action'' newspaper, has a youth affiliate called Youth for Socialist Action (YSA) and is associated with the Fourth International. In October 2019, a minority faction was expelled or resigned membership from Socialist Action and re-established itself as Socialist Resurgence. Trotskyism is the political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Ukrainian-Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and some other members of the Left Opposition and Fourth International. The Fourth International (FI), founded in 1938, is a Trotskyist international. In 1963, following a ten-year schism, the majorities of the two public factions of the Fourth International, the International Secretariat and the International Committee, reunited, electing a United Secretariat of the Fourth International.
