The National Games of India (ISO: ) consist of various disciplines in which athletes from the different states of India participate against each other. The country's first few Olympic Games, now renamed as National Games, were held in Lahore (now in Pakistan), Delhi, Allahabad, Patiala, Madras, Calcutta and Bombay. History Indian Olympic Games (early National Games) In the early 1920s, the Indian chapter of the Olympic movement was born, and India participated in the 1920 Antwerp Olympics. 2025 National Games Of India
The 2025 National Games of India, also known as the 38th National Games of India and informally as the Uttarakhand 2025, were held in the state of Uttarakhand from 28 January to 14 February. The games were Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with him, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh (general), Gurmit Singh, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta, Raksha Khadse were present among other dignitaries at the event. 1950 National Games Of India
The 1950 National Games of India were held in Bombay. They were the 14th national games, and the second time the games had been held in Bombay. The mascot Ammu, found a place in the Limca Book of Records. Background The National Games were first held in Bombay, the present Mumbai, in 1940 under the new name. Earlier, they were called All India Olympic Games. In late 1949, the Bengal Provincial Olympic Association, whose turn it was to hold the next national games, could not do so, and, at the Indian Olympic Association meeting on 24 October 1949, members from other associations were asked to stage these games but no province took the responsibility. Sqay is a South Asian martial art from Kashmir which involves fighting with a sword and shield. History Nazir Ahmad Mir, a sqay grandmaster, played a significant role in reviving the martial art's popularity; he began promoting sqay from the 1980s onwards in Kashmir, and did international demonstrations in various countries.
