National Development Planning Commission (NDPC)
The National Development Planning Commission is a Ghanaian state agency committed to eradicating poverty and reducing inequalities in deprived areas and rural communities. The commission was established in 1992. History The establishment of a National Development Commission was first proposed under the 1979 constitution. According to the constitution, the commission was to be chaired by the then vice president who was to report to the then president. The role of the chairman of the Commission according to the constitution was to advise, monitor and evaluate. The commission's existence was precluded by the 1981 coup. In view of Ghana's attempt to improve decentralization in the 1980s, the government employed the services of a Hungarian team of consultants (TESCO), sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Government Of Ghana
The Government of Ghana was created as a parliamentary democracy, followed by alternating military and civilian governments in Ghana. In January 1993, military government gave way to the Fourth Republic after presidential and parliamentary elections in late 1992. The 1992 constitution divides powers among a president, parliament, cabinet, council of state, and an independent judiciary. The government is elected by universal suffrage. Stephen Adei
Stephen Adei (born 14 December 1948) is a Ghanaian economist, administrator and writer who is a former Director General and Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He is a former chairperson of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) under the Nana Akufo-Addo government. Early life and education He was born in the village of Hwiremoase, in Adansi, Ashanti, Ghana to Kwaku Adei and Abena Pomaa (aka Bedito). Adei attended primary school in the village's Methodist Primary school and nearby United Middle School in Brofuyedru. Arnold Quainoo
Lieutenant General Arnold Quainoo was a Ghanaian former military officer and served as the Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces from August 1983 to September 1989. He took over from Flight Lieutenant J. J. Rawlings and handed over to Lieutenant General Winston Mensa-Wood. He was also the first commander of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) which intervened in Liberia to help end the civil war. Jerry John Rawlings
Jerry John Rawlings (born Jerry Rawlings John; 22 June 194712 November 2020) was a Ghanaian military officer, aviator, and politician who led the country briefly in 1979 and then from 1981 to 2001. He led a military junta until 1993 and then served two terms as the democratically elected president of Ghana. He was the longest-serving leader in Ghana's history, presiding over the country for 19 years.
