National Democratic Agreement
The National Democratic Agreement ( es, Acuerdo Democrático Nacional, ADENA) was a Chilean political coalition existing between 1984 and 1985 that brought together parties, movements and supporters of the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet. Santiago, Chile
Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. National Union Movement
The National Union Movement ( es, link=no, Movimiento de Unión Nacional, MUN) was a Chilean political party that supported the military dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet, founded on 27 November 1983 by Andrés Allamand, Francisco Bulnes Sanfuentes, Pedro Ibáñez Ojeda and other former members and supporters of the National Party, the Radical Democracy and Christian Democrats expelled from the party. Many members of the National Union Movement occupied public offices and important positions during that regime. The referent defined itself as independent, conservative and liberal. One of the leaders of the National Union Movement, Andrés Allamand, was elected secretary general of the party in 1983, holding the post until the following year, when he was elected party chairman, a post that he held until 1986. The Independent Democratic Union (''Unión Demócrata Independiente'', UDI) is a conservative and right-wing political party in Chile, founded in 1983. Its founder was the lawyer, politician and law professor Jaime Guzmán, a civilian allied with Augusto Pinochet. Guzmán was a senator from 1990 until his murder by communist guerrillas on April 1, 1991. Its ideological origins date back to Guzmán's Guildist Movement, born out of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 1966, espousing the independence and depoliticization of intermediate bodies of civil society. This party was one of the last political movements linked to the figure of President Carlos Ibáñez del Campo. Christian Democratic Party (Chile)
The Christian Democratic Party ( es, Partido Demócrata Cristiano, PDC) is a Christian democratic political party in Chile. There have been three Christian Democrat presidents in the past, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, Patricio Aylwin, and Eduardo Frei Montalva. Customarily, the PDC backs specific initiatives in an effort to bridge socialism and laissez-faire capitalism. This economic system has been called "social capitalism" and is heavily influenced by Catholic social teaching or, more generally, Christian ethics. In addition to this objective, the PDC also supports a strong national government while remaining more conservative on social issues. Social Christian Movement ( es, Movimiento Social Cristiano, MSC) was a Chilean political party existing during the 1980s, formed mainly by dissidents of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC). History The first signs of former Christian Democratic militants and leaders meeting to adhere to the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet appeared in 1980, when a group of them called to vote favorably on the constitutional referendum of that year.
