Nathan Staios
Nathan Staios (born May 16, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Savannah Ghost Pirates in the ECHL while under contract to the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Staios was selected 17th overall in the first round of the 2017 OHL Entry Draft by the Windsor Spitfires. He was traded to the Hamilton Bulldogs in exchange for future OHL draft picks prior to the 2019–20 season. When the OHL shut down during the 2020–21 season due to COVID-19, Staios played 6 games for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League. For the 2021–22 season playing for Hamilton, Staios led all OHL defencemen in scoring, with 66 points in 50 games. He was named a First Team All-Star and won the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL's best defenceman. He was also named the CHL Defenceman of the Year. OJHL
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The league dates back to 1954 where it began as the "Central Junior B Hockey League". In 1993, the Central Junior B Hockey League was promoted to the Junior A level and renamed the "Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League". In 2009, the league was dissolved by the Ontario Hockey Association and split into two leagues: the "Central Canadian Hockey League" and the "Ontario Junior A Hockey League". Oakville Blades
The Oakville Blades are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Oakville, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History The Blades started as a Junior C team, and made it to the Clarence Schmalz Cup Final once to compete for the All-Ontario Junior "C" title. In 1969, the Blades lost 4-games-to-3 to the Woodstock Navy-Vets. Oakville moved up to the Junior B level for the 1970-71 season, and joined the Mid-Ontario Junior B league. In 1971, the leagues realigned, and Oakville moved to the new Central Junior B league. In 1975 and 1991 the Blades made it the Sutherland Cup Final for the All-Ontario Junior "B" title. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. Atlanta Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta. Atlanta was granted a franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL) on June 25, 1997, and became the League's 28th franchise when it began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, 1999–2000 season.
