Nathan Jurevicius
Nathan Jurevicius (born 1973) is a Canadian/ Australian illustrator, director, toy designer, author, and fine artist whose diverse range of work has appeared in numerous publications, advertising campaigns, festivals, and galleries around the world. His most acclaimed project to date is ''Scarygirl'', which started in 2001 with a vinyl toy range and has since developed into graphics novels, online games, a VR Free Roam experience, and an animated feature film that is currently in production. The Aurealis Award for Excellence in Speculative Fiction is an annual literary award for Australian science fiction, fantasy and horror fiction. Only Australians are eligible for the award. History The Aurealis Award was established in 1995 by ''Chimaera Publications'', the publishers of '' Aurealis Magazine''. Unlike the other major Australian speculative fiction award, the Ditmar Award, it divides work into subgenre and age categories, and is judged as such. ''Scarygirl'' (also stylized as ''ScaryGirl'') is an adventure-platform game for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation 3's PlayStation Network and Microsoft Windows. ''Scarygirl'' was previously a graphic novel by Nathan Jurevicius, a Flash game, and a downloadable title for the PlayStation Portable. It was developed by TikGames and published by Square Enix. ''Scarygirl'' places the player in control of a girl who is sent from her home to a far-away city on a rescue mission. The girl is able to jump, grapple, and hover her way through seven game worlds, either alone or with another player in a cooperative multiplayer mode. Seekae was a Sydney-based electronic music group. They formed the group under the name Commander Keen in reference to the early-'90s MS-DOS video game series, later changing the name to an elongated version of Commander Keen's initials (CK) after realising the name was taken by a Scottish band. Plaid are an English electronic music duo composed of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. They were founding members of The Black Dog and used many other names, such as Atypic (Andy Turner) and Balil (Ed Handley), before settling on Plaid. Wouter André "Wally" De Backer (born 21 May 1980), better known by his stage name Gotye ( ), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. The name "Gotye" is a pronunciation respelling of "Gauthier", the French cognate of his Dutch given name "Wouter". Robert Dennis Crumb (; born August 30, 1943) is an American cartoonist and musician who often signs his work R. Crumb. His work displays a nostalgia for American folk culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and satire of contemporary American culture.
