Nathan Hodel
Nathan William Hodel (; born November 12, 1977) is a former American football long snapper. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2001. He played college football at Illinois. Hodel was also a member of the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions. Early years Hodel attended Belleville East High School in Belleville, Illinois, and was a two-sport star in baseball and football. In football, he was the team captain and an All-Conference pick as an offensive lineman. In baseball, he was a pitcher, the team captain, an All-Conference pitcher, and an all-Illinois prep pitcher. Long Snapper
In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Following a punt snap, the snapper often executes a blocking assignment and then must cover the kick by running downfield and attempting to stop the opposing team's punt returner from advancing the ball in the opposite direction. If the punt goes uncaught, it is the snapper's responsibility to make sure the ball does not enter the end zone or bounce backward resulting in loss of yards. Lonie Paxton
Leonidas E. "Lonie" Paxton III (born March 13, 1978) is a former American football long snapper. He played college football at Sacramento State and was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2000. Paxton also played for the Denver Broncos. Donald Lynn Muhlbach Jr. (born August 17, 1981) is a former American football long snapper. At the time of his retirement, he was the oldest active player in the NFL other than Tom Brady. Muhlbach played college football for Texas A&M University. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004 by the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Lions that same year. He is second in Lions franchise history in games played, only behind former teammate Jason Hanson.
