Nathan Fyfe
Nathan Fyfe (born 18 September 1991) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Fyfe is a dual Brownlow Medallist, dual Leigh Matthews Trophy recipient, three-time All-Australian (including as captain in the 2019 team) and three-time Doig Medallist. He received a nomination for the 2010 AFL Rising Star award in round 9 of the 2010 season. Fyfe served as Fremantle captain from 2017 to 2022. Early life Fyfe grew up in Lake Grace, Western Australia, and went to school as a boarder at Aquinas College in Perth. In 2009, he played in the West Australian Football League colts for Claremont, his highlights of the season being his eight-goal, 34 possession effort against East Fremantle and six goals in the Colts Grand Final. Lake Grace, Western Australia
Lake Grace is a town in the eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, from Perth along State Route 107 between Wagin and Ravensthorpe. It is the main town in the Shire of Lake Grace. At the 2016 census, Lake Grace had a population of 507. History The area was first taken up for agriculture around 1911. In 1913 a school was established and named Lake Grace after the nearby lake. In 1914 the government planned to extend the railway network from Kukerin to Lake Grace, and local settlers lobbied for a townsite to be declared at the terminus. The railway was completed on 25 November 1916, and terminated close to the site of the existing school. The townsite of Lake Grace was gazetted later in 1916. The branch railway was extended to the ultimate terminus at Newdegate on 15 February 1926 and a further branch from Lake Grace to Hyden opened on 5 April 1933, making Lake Grace a junction and therefore of some importance for train working operations. Doig Medal
The Doig Medal is the best and fairest award given out to the player considered best and fairest during a season for the Fremantle Football Club in the AFL. It was renamed in 2000 after the legendary Fremantle footballing family, the Doigs, who have had over 17 members play league football for East Fremantle or South Fremantle in the WAFL. The most famous is George Doig who has been inducted in the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Eight different players won the award between 1995 and 2002 until Peter Bell won his second medal in 2003. Following Bell's third medal in 2004, Matthew Pavlich won four consecutive medals to hold the record of six medals in total. Nat Fyfe became the third player to win multiple Doig medals when he won consecutive medals in 2013 and 2014. The Western Australia Australian rules football team is the state representative side of Western Australia in the sport of Australian rules football. Peel Thunder Football Club
The Peel Thunder Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The team is based in Mandurah, Western Australia, with their home ground being Rushton Park. The club joined the WAFL as an expansion team in 1997. Since 2014 Peel have been in a formal alignment with the Fremantle Dockers of the Australian Football League, an arrangement which sees Fremantle's reserve players play for Peel.
