Nathan Bijur
Nathan Bijur (June 1, 1862 – July 8, 1930) was a Jews, Jewish-American lawyer and judge from New York City, New York. Life Bijur was born on June 1, 1862, in New York City, New York City, New York, the son of Asher Bijur and Pauline Sondheim. His father was a Kingdom of Prussia, Prussian immigrant who worked as a tobacco merchant. Bijur attended Doctor Chapin's and Doctor Sach's schools. He then graduated from Columbia College (New York), Columbia College with a Bachelor of Philosophy, Ph.B. in political science in 1881. This was followed by an Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. from Columbia Law School in 1882 and a Ph.D. in political science in 1883. He was admitted to the bar in 1884, at which point he began practicing law with Isaac Rice, Isaac L. Rice under the firm name Rice & Bijur. Charles Evans Hughes Sr. (April 11, 1862 – August 27, 1948) was an American statesman, politician and jurist who served as the 11th Chief Justice of the United States from 1930 to 1941. Jacob Joseph
Jacob Joseph ( he, יעקב יוסף 1840 –July 28, 1902) served as chief rabbi of New York City's Association of American Orthodox Hebrew Congregations, a federation of Eastern European Jewish synagogues. Born in Krozhe, a province of Kovno, he studied in the Nevyozer Kloiz under Rabbi Yisrael Salanter and in the Volozhin yeshiva under the '' Netziv.'' In Volozhin, he was known as "Rav Yaakov Charif" (Rabbi Jacob Sharp) because of his sharp mind. He became successively rabbi of Vilon in 1868, Yurburg in 1870, Zhagory and then Kovno.
