Natasha Mitchell is an Australian science journalist. She currently hosts the Radio National ABC Radio National, more commonly known as Radio National or simply RN, is an Australian nationwide public service radio network run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). From 1947 until 1985, the network was known as ABC Radio 2. ... program '' Big Ideas'', which presents lectures, panels and podcast episodes on ideas or issues and was initially presented by Australian journalist Paul Barclay. Mitchell was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow in 2005/2006. Mitchell was vice-president of the[World Federation of Science Journalists from 2011-2013. Science journalism conveys reporting about science to the public. The field typically involves interactions between scientists, journalists and the public. Origins Modern science journalism originated in weather and other natural history observations, as well as reports of new scientific findings, reported by almanacs and other news writing in the centuries following the advent of the printing press. One early example dates back to '' Digdarshan'' (means showing the direction), which was an educational monthly magazine that started publication in 1818 from Srirampore, Bengal, India. Paul Barclay is an Australian writer, journalist, radio presenter and producer. Biography Barclay was born in Melbourne. Since the late 1990s, he has worked as a radio presenter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Queensland, Northern Territory, and Victoria. In 2005, Barclay won the Walkley Award for his investigation of the events and issues surrounding Australia's notorious Philip Nitschke, "Dr Death". The Knight Science Journalism program (styled as "KSJ@MIT") offers 9-month research fellowships, based at its headquarters at the MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, to elite staff and freelance journalists specializing in coverage of science and technology, medicine, or the environment. Geraldine Frances Doogue () (born 29 April 1952) is an Australian journalist and radio and television presenter, known for her work with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Since January 2024, she has been co-host of ABC Radio National's ''Global Roaming'' current affairs programme.
