Bernard Natan
Bernard Natan (born Natan Tannenzaft; 14 July 1886 – October 1942) was a French-Romanian film entrepreneur, director and actor of the 1920s and 1930s. Natan was deported to Auschwitz after the studio he owned went bankrupt, and his reputation was destroyed with wrongful accusations of pornography and fraud which then led to his conviction. Before he joined Lions de Genève, he played for Hapoel Be'er Sheva of the Israeli Premier Basketball League. Natan Brand (1944–1990) was an Israeli classical pianist. Biography Brand was the son of a doctor, Aron Brand, and his wife, Mala, Polish Jews who immigrated to Mandate Palestine days before the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939. The family settled in Jerusalem. Brand began his studies as a child prodigy at the age of seven, with Haim Alexander at the Rubin Academy, where he later received an Artist's and Teacher's diploma. He made his orchestral debut at the age of 11, playing with the Israel Broadcasting Authority Symphony Orchestra. Brand married Lori Hillman, with whom he had two sons, Jesse and Ari. He died in 1990 at the age of 46. Musical career The pianist Nadia Reisenberg, pupil of Josef Hofmann, heard Brand play and arranged for him to study at the Mannes College of Music in New York. Efrat Natan is an Israeli artist. Biography Efrat Natan was born and grew up on Kibbutz Kfar Ruppin in the Beit She'an Valley. She studied with Raffi Lavie. Her art was influenced by life on the kibbutz and utopian ideals. Her sculpture "Swing of the Scythe" (2002) is in the permanent exhibition of the Israel Museum. Nathan Zach (13 December 1930 – 6 November 2020; Hebrew: נתן זך) was an Israeli poet. Widely regarded as one of the preeminent poets in the country's history, he was awarded the Israel Prize in 1995 for poetry. He was also the recipient of other national and international awards. Shulamit "Shuli" Natan ( he, שׁוּלָמִית „שׁוּלִי” נָתָן (born March 16, 1947) is an Israeli singer. She is best known for singing "Jerusalem of Gold" (''Yerushalayim Shel Zahav''), written by Naomi Shemer. Singing career Shuli Natan's albums feature Israeli songs, traditional Jewish melodies and songs by Shlomo Carlebach. She achieved fame with a heartfelt rendition of "Jerusalem of Gold" in 1967. Nathan Rapoport
Nathan Rapoport (1911–1987) was a Warsaw-born Jewish sculptor and painter, later a resident of Israel and then the United States. Biography Natan Yaakov Rapoport was born in Warsaw, Poland. In 1936, he won a scholarship to study in France and Italy. He fled to the Soviet Union when the Nazis invaded Poland. The Soviets initially provided him with a studio, but then forced him to work as a manual laborer. When the war ended, he returned to Poland to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and immigrated to Israel. In 1959, he moved to the United States. He lived in New York City until his death in 1987.
