Narellan is a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. Narellan is located 60 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Camden Council and is part of the Macarthur region. Narellan is known for its modern shopping centre, Narellan Town Centre, historic St Thomas Chapel, Studley Park House and golf course. History The area now known as Narellan was probably originally home to the Tharawal people, based in the Illawarra region, although the Western Sydney-based Darug people and the Southern Highlands-based Gandangara people were also known to have inhabited the greater Camden area. Very early relations with British settlers were cordial but as farmers started clearing and fencing the land affecting food resources in the area, clashes between the groups arose until 1816 when a number of indigenous people were massacred and the remainder retreated from direct conflict with the settlers. Narellan Town Centre
Narellan Town Centre is a sub-regional shopping centre located in the suburb, Narellan, in the local government area of Camden Council and is part of the Macarthur region. The centre currently features over 220 stores including Big W, Kmart, Target, Woolworths, Coles, H&M, JB Hi-Fi and United Cinemas. History The centre first opened in 1995 by Arnold Vitocco and Tony Perich, after being offered two hectare block of land in the middle of Narellan. It was originally anchored by a Woolworths supermarket with little over 20 speciality stores. The first expansion in started 1999, adding Big W and 50 stores, and a further 20 stores in 2001. In 2010, the centre had included cinema, food court and Coles supermarket, extending to 35,000 square metres. Narellan railway station was a railway station on the Camden railway line, serving the suburb of Narellan, New South Wales, Australia. Camden Railway Line
The Camden railway line is a closed railway line between Campbelltown and Camden in the southwestern outskirts of Sydney, Australia. The passenger service was also known as the 'Camden Tram' and affectionately as 'Pansy'. History The Camden railway line was designed as a light railway and construction of the line started in 1881. The line opened on 10 March 1882 and ran between Campbelltown and Camden. The line was originally operated with Baldwin Steam Tram Motors, but these proved unsatisfactory. The NSWGR purchased two small 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotives from Manning Wardle, which were a standard K Class design. These became the S-292 class. The line carried freight and passengers but was rarely busy. Camelot, Kirkham
''Camelot'' is a heritage-listed former residence, race horse stud and homestead and now large home located at Kirkham Lane in the outer south-western Sydney suburb of Narellan, New South Wales, Australia.
