Narain Swamy
Venkatraman Narayan Swamy (23 May 1924 in near Kozhikode, Kerala – 1 May 1983 in Dehra Dun, India) was an Indian Test cricketer. Swamy made his Test debut against New Zealand in 1955/56 and played in the first match of the series. He opened the bowling with Dattu Phadkar, took no wickets, did not bat, and was dropped. Ranji Trophy
The Ranji Trophy is a premier domestic first-class cricket championship played in India and organized annually by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field, at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails (small sticks) balanced on three stumps. Indian Cricket was a cricket yearbook published by ''The Hindu'' from 1946–47 to 2004. There was no 2003 issue and so there are 57 editions in all. During most of its run it was the principal annual of its kind in India. The Services cricket team plays in the Ranji Trophy, the main domestic first-class cricket competition in India. Under the auspices of the Services Sports Control Board, they represent the Indian Armed Forces. Their home ground is the Palam A Stadium, Palam Air Force Base, New Delhi.
