Ajima Naonobu
, also known as Ajima Manzō Chokuyen, was a Japanese mathematician of the Edo period.Smith, David. (1914). His Dharma name was (祖眞院智算量空居士). Work Ajima is credited with introducing calculus into Japanese mathematics. The significance of this innovation is diminished by a likelihood that he had access to European writings on the subject. Ajima also posed the question of inscribing three mutually tangent circles in a triangle; these circles are now known as Malfatti circles after the later work of Gian Francesco Malfatti, but two triangle centers derived from them, the Ajima–Malfatti points, are named after Ajima. Ajima was an astronomer at the Shogun's Observatory (''Bakufu Temmongaki'').Jochi, Shigeru. (1997). Kanō Naonobu
Kanō Naonobu (, 25 November 1607 – 7 May 1650) was a Japanese painter of the Kanō school of painting during the early Edo period. He was the younger brother of Kanō Tan'yū, with whom he completed a number of prominent commissions for the Tokugawa shogunate. His style differed somewhat from Tan'yū's in his bold use of negative space and his mastery of ink wash painting. Naonobu also used the art name Jitekisai (). Life and career Naonobu was born in Kyoto on the 6th day of the 10th month of the 12th year of Keichō (25 November 1607). He was the second son of the Kanō school painter Kanō Takanobu and the younger brother of Kanō Tan'yū, who was to continue the line and become one of the foremost painters of the school. Sameshima Naonobu
was a Japanese diplomat. He was Japan's first resident minister in Europe. Early life and education Sameshima was born on April 16, 1845, in Satsuma Province, Japan. He was the son of a physician and had two siblings. He went to study in Nagasaki in 1861, where he learned Western medicine and English. In 1865 he studied abroad in London with 15 other students from Satsuma, including Mori Arinori, Nagasawa Kanaye, Yoshida Kiyonari, and Godai Tomoatsu. He went to the United States with 5 other Satsuma students to live at a vineyard in Brocton, New York, with Thomas Lake Harris, but returned to Japan with Mori in 1868. Career Sameshima worked for the Japanese government when he returned. When the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was founded, he was appointed a junior minister. Naonobu Fujii
was a Japanese volleyball player, who was also a member of the Japan men's national volleyball team and of Toray Arrows. Personal life Naonobu Fujii grew up in Miyagi, Japan where he attended Furukawa Industrial High School, a school known for its volleyball team. Gaining an interest in the sport, he went on to play for Juntendo University. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as cycling in his free time. His family home was swept away by the tsunami caused by the Tohoku earthquake. Due to the disaster, his father became unemployed, and Fujii nearly gave up his dream of playing volleyball but continued with his family's encouragement. In September 2021, Fujii announced that he had married Miya Sato, who was a setter of the Japan women's national volleyball team and Hitachi Rivale club. Naonobu (crater)
Naonobu is a small lunar impact crater named after Japanese mathematician Ajima Naonobu. It is located on the eastern Mare Fecunditatis, to the northwest of the prominent crater Langrenus, and it forms a triple-crater formation with the adjacent Atwood to the south and Bilharz just to the southwest. Naonobu and Atwood are separated by only a few kilometres. The interior of this crater has been flooded with basaltic lava, leaving a relatively flat interior and a reduced outer rim. There is no central peak, but a small crater lies just to the southwest of the midpoint. A similar crater lies across the western interior of the rim.
