Nansi Richards Jones (14 May 1888 – 21 December 1979) was a Welsh harpist, sometimes known as the "Queen of the Harp"Folktrax 351"Nansi Richards, Triple Harp" or by her bardic name "Telynores Maldwyn". Early life and education Jane Ann "Nansi" Richards was born at Pen-y-bont-fawr, Montgomeryshire. An expert on both the triple and pedal harps, she always maintained that the greatest influences on her life were her father Thomas Richards, the Kale (Welsh Romanies) who stayed on their farm, and Tom Lloyd (Telynor Ceiriog, 1848–1917), who taught her to play the harp. She also studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London, with harpist John Thomas. Musical career She won the National Eisteddfod harp competition three times in succession. Nansi District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (), alternatively spelled Nanxi, is a rural district of about 8,951 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. Name Nansi () was so named because it is west of the Cishan River (Qishan). The 'nan' () in 'Nansi' is an abbreviation for Nanzixian River (), an alternate name for Cishan River. The 'si' () means 'west'. This name originated in the period of Taiwan under Japanese rule. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Nansi was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, Tainan County was merged with Tainan City and Nansi was upgraded to a district of the city. Sweetwater (band)
Sweetwater was an American rock music, rock band originally from Los Angeles, California. They were the act scheduled to open the Woodstock festival in 1969; however, due to being stuck in traffic Folk music, folksinger Richie Havens' trio (Daniel Ben Zebulon, percussion, Paul "Deano" Williams, guitar, backing vocals) performed first. Sweetwater was eventually flown in to Woodstock by helicopter and performed next, becoming the first band to perform at the festival. History The original members of the band were Nancy "Nansi" Nevins (lead vocals/guitar), August Burns (cello), Albert Moore (flute/backing vocals), Alan Malarowitz (drums), Elpidio Cobian (conga), Alex Del Zoppo (keyboards) and Fred Herrera (bass).
