Nandi Awards
The Nandi Awards are the awards that recognise excellence in Telugu cinema, Telugu theatre, Telugu television, and Lifetime achievements in Indian cinema. Presented annually by the Government of Andhra Pradesh the awards are named after ''the big granite bull'' at Lepakshi - a cultural and historical symbol of the Telugu people. Nandi Awards are presented in four categories: Gold (Swarnam), Silver (Rajatam), Bronze (Kamsyam), and Copper (Raagi). A variant, the Nandi Natakotsavam Awards for Theatre, is also given every year by the government for social, mythological and poetic dramas. Telugu Cinema
Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu cinema is based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, India. The nickname ''Tollywood'' is a portmanteau of the words Telugu and Hollywood. By 2021, it has emerged as the largest film industry in India in terms of box-office. Since 1909, filmmaker Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu was involved in producing short films and travelling to different regions in Asia to promote film work. In 1921, he produced the silent film, '' Bhishma Pratigna'', generally considered to be the first Telugu feature film, and hence, regarded as the ''Father of Telugu cinema''. Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu
Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu (15 October 1869 – 15 March 1941), was an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, director, graphic artist, lyricist, author, educationist and entrepreneur considered as the father of Telugu cinema. Regarded as one of the pioneers of Indian cinema, Venkaiah started his career as a commercial photographer in Madras; he was drawn into independent filmmaking, and he traveled to different regions in South east Asia to promote and teach cinematic techniques, filmmaking, and distribute foreign language silent films. Venkaiah Naidu founded one of the first cinematograph company in South India called "The Glass Studio" equipped with sound-on-disc display technology, allowing play back sound in sync with a motion picture. Dil Raju
Velamakucha Venkata Ramana Reddy (born 17 December 1970), known professionally as Dil Raju, is an Indian film producer and distributor known for his works in Telugu cinema. He has also financed some Tamil and Hindi films and owns the production company Sri Venkateswara Creations. Daggubati Suresh Babu (born 24 December 1958) is an Indian film producer, studio owner and distributor who serves as the managing director of Suresh Productions. In 2012, he received the Andhra Pradesh state Nagireddy–Chakrapani National Award for his contribution to popular cinema. Cherukuri Ramoji Rao (born 16 November 1936) is an Indian businessman, media entrepreneur, and film producer. He is head of the Ramoji Group which owns the world's largest film production facility Ramoji Film City, '' Eenadu'' newspaper, ETV Network of TV channels, film production company Usha Kiran Movies. Chakrapani (filmmaker)
Chakrapani (born Aluri Venkata Subbarao; 5 August 1908 – 24 September 1975) was an Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He won two Filmfare Awards for Telugu films. He was also notable for his association with Vijaya Vauhini Studios, one of the largest studios in Asia at that time. Nagi Reddi
Bommireddy Nagi Reddi (2 December 1912 – 25 February 2004) was an Indian film producer and director mainly in Telugu cinema. He set up Vijaya Vauhini Studios in Chennai, which was then Asia's biggest film studio. As his elder brother (who was also a director) had the same initials and was known as B. N. Reddi, Nagi Reddi was popularly known as B. Nagi Reddi. Boyapati Srinu
Boyapati Srinivas, commonly known as Boyapati Srinu or Boyapati Sreenu, is an Indian film director and screenwriter. Best known for directing mass action films in Telugu cinema, Boyapati has garnered two state Nandi Awards. Early life Boyapati Srinivas was born in Pedakakani in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He obtained his degree from JKC College in Guntur and attended Nagarjuna University for post-graduation. His family runs a photo studio. Boyapati was interested in photography and worked as a part-time reporter for the Eenadu newspaper. Trivikram Srinivas (born Akella Naga Srinivasa Sarma; 7 November 1971), often credited as Trivikram, is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu cinema. In 2021, he became one of the highest-paid directors in South Indian cinema. He has garnered six state Nandi Awards for Best Dialogue Writer and two Filmfare Awards for Best Director.
