Nancy Masterton
Nancy Nye Masterton (November 30, 1930 – May 17, 2015) was an American farmer, volunteer and politician. Born in Watertown, Massachusetts, Masterton moved with her husband to Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Masterton volunteered with several groups and had a farm in Denmark, Maine. Denmark, Maine
Denmark is a town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,197 at the 2020 census. A number of ponds and lakes are located within the town. History The land was once part of Pequawket (now Fryeburg), village of the Sokokis Abenaki Indians. Attacked by Captain John Lovewell in 1725 during Dummer's War, the tribe abandoned the area and fled to Canada. The township combined a grant made by the Massachusetts General Court to Fryeburg Academy, Foster's Gore and a strip from Brownfield. Several settlers came from Andover, Massachusetts. It was incorporated as Denmark on February 20, 1807, and named in a show of solidarity with Denmark. The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state.
