Nampally Assembly Constituency
Nampally Assembly constituency is a constituency of Telangana Legislative Assembly, India. It is one among 15 constituencies in the capital city of Hyderabad. It is part of Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Majid Hussain of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen is representing the constituency after the 2023 Telangana elections which he subsequently won by narrowly defeating Congress candidate Mohammed Feroz Khan and replaced incumbent Jaffer Hussain who instead became MLA of Yakhutpura constituency. Extent of the constituency Nampally was carved out of Asifnagar Assembly constituency before the 2009 elections as per Delimitation Act of 2002. Mohammad Majid Hussain
Mohammad Majid Hussain (born 9 April 1980) is an Indian politician who is currently the Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the Nampally Assembly constituency and corporator of Mehdipatnam ward of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. He was the former Mayor of Hyderabad and belongs to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen party. Early life and family Majid Hussain's schooling was at St Theresa's School, Humayun Nagar and intermediate at Sultan Uloom College, Banjara Hills. He graduated from Anwar Uloom College, Mallepally in Bachelor of Computer Applications. Hussain initially worked as an Executive with HSBC in the migration and credit card division. Nampally is one of the biggest and busiest neighbourhoods in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is also a mandal in Hyderabad district. The biggest landmarks are Ibrahim's house and Hyderabad Deccan Station, locally known as the Nampally railway station. History Nampally derives its name from a Diwan of Hyderabad, Raza Ali Khan whose title was ''Nekh-Nam-Khan''. A jagir was granted to him, Nekh-Nampally, which became ‘Nampally’. The Nampally Railway Station was built in 1907 by Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII, the last Nizam of Hyderabad state. The 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election took place in April 2009, concurrently with the 2009 Indian general election. 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly Election
The 2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election took place on 30 April and 7 May 2014 to elect members to the legislatures of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The 2018 Telangana Legislative Assembly election was held on 7 December 2018 which marked the second electoral event since the Telangana movement, state's formation in 2014.
