Mahmoud Namjoo
Mahmoud Namjoo (, September 22, 1918 – January 21, 1989) was an Iranian bantamweight weightlifter. He competed at the 1948, 1952 and 1956 Olympics and placed fifth, second and third, respectively. At the world championships he won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals between 1949 and 1957, becoming the first Iranian weightlifter to win a world title. Namjoo was also the first Asian weightlifter to set a world record; during his career he set four: one in clean and jerk in 1949 and three in the total, in 1948, 1949 and 1951. Namjoo was born in Rasht in 1918 and in 1937 moved to Tehran, where he worked at a carpentry workshop. He took weightlifting in a gym nearby. Besides weightlifting he also competed in bodybuilding, and won the Mr. Universe title in his weight division in 1948, placing fifth in 1955. Mousa Namjoo
Mousa Namjoo (; 17 December 1938 – 29 September 1981) was an Iranian military officer who served as the minister of defence from August to September 1981. Biography Namjoo was born in Bandar-e Anzali on 17 December 1938. He graduated from Officers' School. He was married and had three children. He worked at the National Military Academy with the rank of colonel. He was instrumental in developing a cooperation between the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps and army before and during the Iran Iraq war. He also fought in the war. He was appointed minister of defence and armed forces logistics to the interim government led by Prime Minister Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani on 2 September 1981. Death Namjoo was killed in a plane crash together with 80 other people on 29 September 1981 near Tehran. Majid Namjoo () is an Iranian politician who was the minister of energy in second cabinet of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Early life Namjoo was born in Tehran on 5 January 1963. Career Namjoo was a member of Kerman city Council from 2001 to 2008 and became deputy minister of energy in February 2008. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nominated Namjoo as minister of energy in August 2009 and he was approved by the Majlis as the minister with 210 out of 290 votes. Majid Namjoo-Motlagh (; born May 31, 1966, in Tehran, Iran) is a former Iranian football player and now manager. Playing career International career Namjoo-Moltagh debuted for the Iran national football team on May 28, 1986, in a friendly match against China in Beijing. He made 45 appearances for Iran from 1986 to 1997. In August 2015, he played for Iranian All-Star team against World All-Star and got rejected when asking to exchange his jersey with one of the all-star players. Mohsen Namjoo () is an Iranian singer-songwriter, composer, and musician. His style of music is influenced by blues and rock as well as Iranian folk music. Early life and education Namjoo was born on 4 March 1976 in Torbat-e Jam, a small town in Razavi Khorasan province in northeastern Iran. He was raised in the religious city of Mashhad. He started learning classical Persian music when he was 12.
