NamCollection
is a video game compilation released in July 2005 by Namco in Japan only to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The compilation contains five ports of various PlayStation titles created by the company with added analog support and retexturing. Namco
was a Japanese multinational video game and entertainment company founded in 1955. It operated video arcades and amusement parks globally, and produced video games, films, toys, and arcade cabinets. Namco was one of the most influential companies in the coin-op and arcade game industry, producing multi-million-selling game franchises such as '' Pac-Man'', ''Galaxian'', '' Tekken'', '' Tales'', '' Ridge Racer'', and '' Ace Combat''. The name ''Namco'' comes from ''Nakamura Manufacturing Company'', derived from Namco's founder, Masaya Nakamura. Ace Combat 2
is a 1997 Combat flight simulation game, combat flight simulation video game developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation (console), PlayStation. It is the sequel to ''Air Combat'' and the second in the ''Ace Combat'' franchise. The player controls one of 24 different fighter jets through 21 different missions with certain objectives to fulfill, such as protecting a base from enemy fire, intercepting a squadron of enemies, or taking down an aircraft carrier. Conceived by Namco designer Masanori Kato, ''Ace Combat 2'' was created out of Kato's dissatisfaction with the original ''Air Combat'', feeling from a technical standpoint it was severely lacking. Door To Phantomile
''Klonoa: Door to Phantomile'' is a 1997 platform game developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation. It is the first game in the ''Klonoa'' series. The story follows Klonoa and his friend Huepow in their efforts to save the dream world of Phantomile from an evil spirit intent on turning it into a world of nightmares. The player controls Klonoa through a 2.5D perspective; the stages are rendered in three dimensions but the player moves along a 2D path. Klonoa can grab enemies and throw them as projectiles, or use them as a jump boost to navigate through the stages. The game was directed by Hideo Yoshizawa, who conceptualized the setting as a dream world that could appeal to children and adults. The Klonoa character was designed early on and the environments and other characters were designed around him. Tekken (video Game)
is a 1994 fighting game developed and published by Namco. It was originally released on Arcade game, arcades, then Porting#Porting of video games, ported to the PlayStation (console), PlayStation home console in 1995. One of the earliest 3D computer graphics, 3D Polygonal modeling, polygon-based games of the genre, ''Tekken'' was Namco's answer to ''Virtua Fighter'' and was designed by Seiichi Ishii, who himself was also ''Virtua Fighter (video game), Virtual Fighter'' designer when he worked at Sega previously. The game was developed on the purpose-built low-cost Namco System 11, System 11 board, based on PlayStation hardware. Tekken was innovative in that it featured multiple game modes for a fighting game, which was not limited to the fighting game genre but also displayed Galaga on the loading screen.
