Naltar Valley
The Naltar Valley is a valley situated about from the city of Gilgit in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is a forested area distinguished by its three lakes, Strangi Lake, Blue Lake, and Bodlok Lake, as well as by the mountainous landscape. Geography The Naltar Valley is situated near the city of Gilgit, with the settlements of Naltar Bala (upper) and Naltar Paain (lower) in the valley about and from Gilgit, respectively. The Naltar Expressway connects Naltar with Gilgit via Nomal and Faizabad. A road from Nomal goes through the 'Silk Route' to China. Naltar Hydropower Projects (I, II, IV) In addition to the existing three smaller hydropower generating facilities (Naltar I, II, and IV, totaling 3.02 MW), the government built an 18 MW hydropower plant, known as Naltar Hydropower Plant-IV, close to Naltar Pine to meet the region's energy needs. Valley
A valley is an elongated low area often running between hills or mountains and typically containing a river or stream running from one end to the other. Most valleys are formed by erosion of the land surface by rivers or streams over a very long period. Some valleys are formed through erosion by glacial ice. Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary
The Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Naltar Valley near Nomal Valley, Nomal, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The sanctuary was created on 22 November 1975 and consists of a steep-sided forested valley with high mountains on either side. The sanctuary is home to a number of large mammals, including a small number of Astor markhor. Location Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Naltar Valley close to Hunza Valley, a mountainous valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, about from the city of Gilgit. Amina Wali is a Pakistani alpine skier and a recipient of Pride of Performance. She remained national champion for 15 years. In acknowledgement of her extra ordinary achievements in sports, she was conferred Presidential Award of Pride of Performance in 2023. Muhammad Abbas (skier)
Muhammad Abbas (), (born 16 February 1986) is a Pakistani alpine skier who was his nation's first competitor at the Winter Olympic Games, in 2010. Muhammad Abbas was not expected to win any medal, but he outraced some of the other debuting skiers. A group said to be particularly interested were Pakistani Canadians. Abbas was raised in a small village in Northern Pakistan, and his first pair of skis were carved out of wood by his father. He was discovered at age 8 by a Pakistani Air Force officer (Group Captain(R) Zahid Farooq) who remains his coach. Abbas works for the Air Force, his assignment being to ski. Career 2010 In the 2010 Winter Olympics he competed in the Men's giant slalom event. Leopard Cat
The leopard cat (''Prionailurus bengalensis'') is a Felinae, small wild cat native to continental South Asia, South, Southeast Asia, Southeast, and East Asia. Beech Marten
The beech marten (''Martes foina''), also known as the stone marten, house marten or white breasted marten, is a species of marten native to much of Europe and Central Asia, though it has established a feral population in North America. Brown Bear
