Burmese Name
Burmese names () lack the serial structure of most Western names. Like other Mainland Southeast Asia, Mainland Southeast Asian people (except Vietnamese name, Vietnamese), the people of Myanmar have no customary matronymic or patronymic naming system and no tradition of surnames. Although other Mainland Southeast Asian countries such as Thai name, Thailand, Lao name, Laos, Cambodian name, Cambodia, Malaysian names, Malaysia introduced the use of surnames in early 20th century, Myanmar never introduced the use of surnames and lacks surnames in the modern day. In the culture of Myanmar, people can change their name at will, often with no government oversight, to reflect a change in the course of their lives. Kyaw Kyaw Naing
Kyaw Kyaw Naing (; born 1964) is a Burmese traditional hsaing waing musician known for introducing Burmese folk music to the world stage. He is a master of the pat waing, a traditional Burmese drum-circle instrument; the player sits in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped shell made of elaborately carved wood and decorated with gold leaf. He is the only known American-based ''hsaing'' proponent. Early life Naing was born to Sein Chit Tee, the director of the Burmese national hsaing orchestra, and Aye Kyi, a dance instructor. The last Burmese orchestra to play in New York City was in 1975 at the Asia Society. It was led by Naing's father, U Sein Chit Tee, who performed in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the former Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. Major General Twan Mrat Naing ( Burmese: ထွန်းမြတ်နိုင်; also spelled Tun Myat Naing) is an Arakanese revolutionary and commander in chief of the Arakan Army, an ethnic armed organization. Twan Mrat Naing has led the Arakan Army since its founding in 2009, and maintains the rank of Major General. Theikpan Soe Myint Naing () is a writer of children's books in Burma. He has received a National Literary Award and has twice received Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards. Tekkatho Phone Naing
Tekkatho Phone Naing (, 16 January 1930 – 2002) was a famous Burmese writer, primarily known for lovelorn stories that were most popular in the 1950s to 1970s. His "sad" stories still represent some of the best popular Burmese story writing in the postwar era. Overview Tekkatho Phone Naing was the pen name of Khin Maung Tint (), a lifelong university professor and later Chancellor of University of Moulmein. He received a Master's degree in psychology from Columbia University. During the 1988 popular uprising against the government of Burma, he called for restraint and true democracy. The military junta forced him to retire from his position as Rector of the Institute of Education, Yangon. He died in 2002 at the age of 72. San Sat Naing (; also spelled Sann Satt Naing; born 4 November 1997) is a Burmese footballer playing as a goalkeeper for Burmese club Yangon United. Myint Naing (; born 13 November 1942) is a Burmese dental professor who was the rector of the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon from 1995 to 1997.
