Nainendra Nand
Nainendra Nand was the Solicitor-General of Fiji from 1997 to 2006. He had previously worked in the Office of the Attorney-General since 1983. He was dismissed from office on 7 December 2006 for refusing to cooperate with the military junta which seized power on 5 December. Nand was educated in the United Kingdom. After receiving his LLB from the University of North London, he went on to complete an LLM from the University of London, and was admitted to the bar at Lincoln's Inn. In his capacity as Solicitor-General, Nand was the Chief Executive Officer for the office of the Attorney-General, the Fiji Law Reform Commission, the Fiji Law Revision Commission, the Legal Aid Commission, and a total of nine boards and committees. Solicitor-General Of Fiji
The Solicitor-General of Fiji is the Chief Executive Officer of the Attorney-General's Chambers, and as such assists the Attorney-General in advising the government on legal matters, and in performing legal work for the government. The previous Solicitor-General was Christopher Pryde, who took office in July 2007 until he was appointed Director of Public Prosecutions in 2011. The Office is currently vacant, although Deputy Solicitor-General Sharvada Sharma has been acting in the position to date. Unlike the Attorney-General, who holds political office as a member of the House of Representatives or Senate, the Solicitor-General is a civil servant. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation
The Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) is one of the two radio broadcasters in Fiji. It was known as Fiji Broadcasting Commission when it began. It traces its history to 1935 when it first began operating under licence from the Posts and Telegraphs Department with the call sign ZJV. At the end of 1952, the legislative council passed the Broadcasting Commission Bill. The commission members were appointed in June 1953. On 1 July 1954, the commission's first programme was broadcast as part of the official opening ceremony. In January 1998 the Fiji Broadcasting Commission was corporated under the government's public sector reform programme and renamed Island Networks Corporation Limited. Suva () is the capital and largest city of Fiji. It is the home of the country's largest metropolitan area and serves as its major port.
