Nagarkurnool is a town and is the district headquarters of Nagarkurnool district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is located at nearly 120 km from the state capital, Hyderabad. The town has a great history and it was a district headquarter during Nizam's rule. History Nagarkurnool has a history dating back more than 500 years. One version of the story says that Nagarkurnool was named after the Kings Nagana and Kandana, brothers who ruled the present day Nagarkurnool and surrounding area. The village Naganool (which was named after Nagana) still exists, approximately 1 km southeast of Nagarkurnool. Around 110 or 120 years ago, Nagarkurnool was a main junction for transport and district headquarters for most of the south Telangana region. Farmers traveling in this area would buy and apply kandena (grease) for their carts. Nagarkurnool district is a district in the southern region of the Indian state of Telangana. The town of Nagarkurnool is the district headquarters. It was part of the Mahbubnagar district prior to re-organisation of districts in the state. Nandi Yellaiah
Nandi Yellaiah (1 July 1942 – 8 August 2020) was an Indian politician from Indian National Congress party who served as a member of the Parliament of India from Nagarkurnool constituency of Telangana state in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. Early life He was born in Tajir Nagar, Bholakpur, Musheerabad, in Hyderabad State to Nandi Nagaiah. He finished his matriculation. Career He was a six-term member of Lok Sabha. He was elected to 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th Lok Sabha from Siddipet (s.c) parliamentary constituency. He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from Nagarkurnool defeating Manda Jagannatham. He also represented Rajya Sabha until 2014. Manda Jagannath
Manda Jagannath (; 22 May 1951 – 12 January 2025) was an Indian politician who was a member of the 11th, 13th, 14th & 15th Lok Sabha, representing Nagarkurnool constituency. He belonged to the Bahujan Samaj Party. Background Manda Jagannadham was born in Mahbubnagar district, Telangana on 22 May 1951. He held a bachelor's degree in medicine. Jagannath did his MBBS from Osmania University. Jagannath died on 12 January 2025, at the age of 73. Career After graduating with a medicine degree he worked as a doctor in Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad. Political career Jagannath was one among the 5 members representing Telugu Desam Party in Lok Sabha, and a member of the party's Polit Bureau, its decision-making body.
