Nagarjuna Power Plant
Udupi Power Plant is a coal based thermal power station in Karnataka, India, established in 2008. It is located to the north of Mangalore, west of Belmannu, and just to the northeast of Padubidri in the village of Yellur, Udupi district, close to the Shambhavi River, roughly from the coast from where the imported coal for the power plant is transported to plant through rail line. The power station caused controversy as it was built within Kudremukh National Park and caused protests. Installed capacity It has installed capacity of 1200 MW (2x600). The plant became fully operational in September 2012. The plant is operated by Udupi Power Corporation Limited which is a subsidiary of Lanco Infratech. Earlier the plant was owned by Nagarjuna Power Corporation Limited. Padubidri
Padubidri /Padubidre (in Kannada) or Paddedra (in Tulu) is a small town in coastal district of Udupi in Karnataka state, India. Padubidri is on the way from Udupi to Mangalore route. National Highway 66 (earlier known as NH 17) passes through Padubidri. Padubidri is famous for ritual Dakkebali, which is held every two years. This ritual is held in odd series of years 2025, 2027 and so on. Padubidri Blue Flag beach is among the most visited tourist attractions of Udupi district. The Nandikoor thermal power plant also known as Udupi thermal power plant is nearby. Udupi District
Udupi district (also Udipi () in Kannada or Odipu () in Tulu language) is an administrative subdivision in the Karnataka state of India, with the district headquarters in the city of Udupi. It is situated in the Canara old north Malabar coastal region. There are seven taluks, 233 villages and 21 towns in Udupi district. The three northern tehsils of Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala, were partitioned from Dakshina Kannada district (South Canara) to form Udupi district on 25 August 1997. Moodabidri was officially declared as new tehsil (taluk) in 2018. Kudremukh National Park
Kudremukh is a mountain in Chikmagalur district, in Karnataka, India. The name literally means 'horse-face' and refers to one picturesque view of a side of the mountain. The name also refers to the small town near the mountain, about 48 kilometres from Karkala and about 20 kilometres from Kalsa. Shambhavi River
The Shambhavi River has its origins at Kudremukh in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, India. It merges with the Nandini River at Mulki, Karnataka before flowing to the Arabian Sea.
