Nagarjuna (actor)
Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao (; born 29 August 1959) is an Indian actor, film producer, entrepreneur, and television presenter known for his work primarily in Telugu cinema, as well as in a few Hindi cinema, Hindi and Tamil cinema, Tamil films. He has appeared in Nagarjuna filmography, over 90 films and is a recipient of two National Film Awards for ''Ninne Pelladata (1996 film), Ninne Pelladata'' (1996) and ''Annamayya (film), Annamayya'' (1997). Nagarjuna has also won ten Nandi Awards and three Filmfare Awards South. In 1989, Nagarjuna starred in the Mani Ratnam-directed romantic drama film ''Geethanjali (1989 film), Geetanjali'', which won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, National Film Award for Best Popular Film. Star Maa is an Indian Telugu language, Telugu-language general entertainment pay television channel owned by JioStar, a joint venture between Viacom18 and Disney India. It primarily telecasts programmes such as serials, reality shows and Telugu films. History Penmetsa Murali Krishnam Raju founded MAA Television Network in 2001 as a corporate entity. ''Annamayya'' is a 1997 Indian Telugu-language hagiographical film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by V. Doraswamy Raju under the VMC Productions banner. The film portrays the life of the 15th century composer Annamacharya, played by Nagarjuna Akkineni who features alongside an ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, Suman, Ramya Krishna, Bhanupriya, Roja, and Kasthuri. ''Shiva'' is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language action drama film written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It was a remake of Varma's debut Telugu film, '' Siva'' (1989).
