Nafoitoa Talaimanu Keti
Nafoitoa Mataia Valu Tala'imanu Keti is a Samoan politician and former Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa. He is a former member of the Human Rights Protection Party. Keti is a former police officer and assistant police commissioner. He was first elected to the legislative Assembly in the 2016 Samoan general election, and was appointed Deputy Speaker. In May 2019 he removed opposition MP Olo Fiti Vaai from the Finance and Expenditure Committee after he criticised government spending decisions. In March 2021 Keti was accused on EFKS-TV of attempting to rape a fellow police officer in 2007 when he was a supervisor at the Faleolo Police Outpost. The TV station was subsequently raided, and his accuser arrested and charged with criminal libel. Keti's seat of Gagaemauga No. 3 was eliminated by boundary reforms in 2018. The Legislative Assembly (), also known as the Parliament of Samoa (), is the national legislature of Samoa, seated at Apia, where the country's central administration is situated. Samoan Parliament is composed of two parts: the O le Ao o le Malo (head of state) and the Legislative Assembly. Parliament has been dissolved since 3 June 2025. In the Samoan language, the Legislative Assembly of Samoa is sometimes referred to as the Samoan Fono while the ''government'' of the country is referred to as the Malo. Fa'amoetauloa Lealaiauloto Taito Dr. Faale Tumaali'i (~1949 - 16 September 2019) was a Samoan politician and Cabinet Minister. He were a member of the Human Rights Protection Party. Tumaali'i studied for a bachelor's degree in Fiji, and then for a master's degree and PhD at the University of New South Wales. Human Rights Protection Party
The Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP, ) is a Samoan political party. It was founded in 1979 and dominated Samoan party politics for decades thereafter, leading every government until their defeat in 2021. Former Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has led the party since 1998. History Vaʻai Kolone and Tofilau Eti Alesana co-founded the party in May 1979 in opposition to the government of Tufuga Efi, Tupuola Efi. It governed the country from first winning power in 1982 to 2021, except for a brief period in 1986 and 1987 when internal differences forced it into coalition. 2016 Samoan General Election
General elections were held in Samoa on 4 March 2016 to determine the composition of the 16th Parliament. Olo Fiti Afoa Vaai (formerly known as Levaopolo Talatonu Vaai) is a Samoan politician and Cabinet Minister who has served as the minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure since 2021. General elections were held in Samoa on 9 April 2021 to determine the composition of the 17th Parliament. The Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP), which had been in government for most of the time since 1982, was led into the election by Tuilaʻepa Saʻilele Malielegaoi, who had served as prime minister since 1998. The passage of the controversial Land and Titles bills by the HRPP led some party members to defect, establishing the Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party promising a repeal.
