Nadia Bisiach (born 25 January 1965), is an Australian former table tennis player who competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the first Olympics to include table tennis. Murtoa, Victoria
Murtoa is a wheat district town in Victoria, Australia, situated around Lake Marma on the Wimmera Highway, north-west of the state capital, Melbourne. The town is in the Shire of Yarriambiack local government area. At the , Murtoa had a population of 865 and is located around 30 kilometres from Horsham, a major city in the Wimmera region. The name Murtoa is believed to come from a local Aboriginal word meaning "home of the lizard". Murtoa's post office opened on 1 August 1874. Many of Murtoa's pioneer farmers were German immigrants, attracted from South Australia by Victorian government incentives. The working section of the present-day Murtoa Grain Receival Centre can hold up to 400,000 tonnes of grain and is the largest inland Receival Centre in Australia. Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. The 1988 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XXIV Olympiad () and commonly known as Seoul 1988 ( ko, 서울 1988, Seoul Cheon gubaek palsip-pal), was an international multi-sport event held from 17 September to 2 October 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. 159 nations were represented at the games by a total of 8,391 athletes (6,197 men and 2,194 women). 237 events were held and 27,221 volunteers helped to prepare the Olympics. Kerri Tepper
Kerri Michelle Tepper (born 4 March 1967), is an Australian former table tennis player who competed at two Olympic Games. She competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics in both the women's singles and doubles events, teaming up with Nadia Bisiach in the latter. She finished equal 25th of 48 in the singles event, while she and Bisiach came 15th (last) in the doubles. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Tepper came equal 33 of 62 in the women's singles event and in the doubles she and Ying Kwok finished equal 17th of 31. From 1993 to 1996 Tepper was Chief Executive Officer of Table Tennis Victoria and was a board member of the Victorian Olympic Committee from 1999 to 2013. She was a board member of the Victorian Institute of Sport from 2001 to 2007.
