The film was written by Prasanta Chowdhury. The screenplay was written by Sunil Gangopadhyay and Arabinda Mukhopadhyay. It revolves around a prostitute who struggles to get her daughter married to a decent man. Arabinda Mukhopadhyay
Arabinda Mukhopadhyay (18 June 1919 – 10 February 2016) was an Indian filmmaker, film director and editor, who directed all-time classics like Nishi Padma (1970), Dhanyee Meye (1971) and Mouchak (1974). He also wrote stories and screenplays. Early life and education Mukhopadhyay was born in Katihar District, Bihar on 18 June 1919. His family originally hailed from Sehakhala situated in Hooghly District of present-day West Bengal. His father, Satyacharan Mukhopadhyay, was a doctor, and his mother was Mrinalini Devi. His elder brother was the noted Bengali writer Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay. Career In a career spanning four decades, he directed total 26 full-length films, 3 telefilms and 1 television serial. Sulata Chowdhury (1945 – 16 September 1997) was a Bengalis, Bengali actress and theatre personality. Chowdhury made her film debut with ''Debarshi Narader Sansar'' (1960). As a leading actress her first film was Sudhir Mukherjee's ''Shesh Paryanta'' (1960) which was a prominent success at the box office. Early life Choudhury was born as Maya Roychowdhury in 1945 in Kolkata, British India. Her father's name was Atal Chandra Roychowdhury. She had passion in dancing and singing since childhood. Chowdhury learnt dance from Ramnarayan Mishra. Career Chowdhury made her film debut with ''Deborsee Narader Sansar'' (1960). Chowdhury also acted as heroine in ''Sesh Paryanta'' directed by Sudhir Mukherjee. After that she starred in number of films in supporting roles. Pulak Bandyopadhyay (; 2 May 1931 – 7 September 1999) was a Bengali people, Bengali Indian lyricist and songwriter of Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali cinema. Early life He was born and brought up in Salkia, Howrah. His family had close links with art circles, in particular in drama, literature, and music. He was a graduate of the Scottish Church College, in Kolkata, Calcutta.
