Nada Surf
Nada Surf is an American alternative rock band formed in New York City in 1992, consisting of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums), and Daniel Lorca (bass, backing vocals). After initially operating under the name Helicopter, Caws and Lorca switched to Nada Surf. In 1995, Ira Elliot joined on drums, and they met Ric Ocasek, former frontman of the Cars, who produced their debut album, '' High/Low'', in 1996. Despite experiencing significant success with their single " Popular" and touring extensively, their follow-up album, '' The Proximity Effect'', was not well received by their record label, Elektra, resulting in the band being dropped, and they self-released the album. Throughout the early 2000s, members worked regular day jobs while continuing to create music, leading to the release of the critically acclaimed album '' Let Go'', in 2002. Their subsequent albums included '' The Weight Is a Gift'' (2005), '' Lucky'' (2008), the covers album ''If I Had a Hi-Fi' ...

Lucky (Nada Surf Album)
''Lucky'' is the fifth album by alternative rock band Nada Surf. It was released on Barsuk in 2008. Recording Frontman Matthew Caws said, "I feel like it is a pretty heavy record, and that is a product of John Goodmanson, the guy who made it because even the songs that were even moderately rocking – now that they are mixed and mastered, they feel like they are really kickin’ even when they are relatively quiet, so that’s thanks to him. I think it is a little heavier than ''Let Go'', but it’s not as heavy as ''The Proximity Effect''." The album is produced, engineered and mixed by John Goodmanson besides some basic track recording work done by Chris Walla. It has been mastered at Sterling Sound by George Marino. Release In 2007, the band issued a statement asking for testimonies revolving around the word "Lucky", in order to include them to the album artwork. The song "See These Bones" premiered on the Anti-Hit List Podcast on October 20, 2007. Due to a misquotation ...

''The Proximity Effect'' is the second album by the alternative rock band Nada Surf. It was released by Elektra Records in Europe in 1998, and by MarDev in North America in August 2000. Recording Finding no radio-friendly single on the album, Elektra asked the band to write a hit, had them record covers of other artists, and tried to push "Why Are You So Mean To Me?" as the first single. Elektra dropped the band, initially setting a high purchase price for the rights to the album. The band eventually released the album in the United States via their own label, MarDev, in 2000. High/Low (Nada Surf Album)
''High/Low'' is the debut studio album by the American band Nada Surf, released in 1996. It contains the hit single " Popular". ''High/Low'' was produced by Ric Ocasek. Nada Surf supported it by touring with Superdrag and the Gravel Pit. Critical reception ''The Baltimore Sun'' noted that "there's an almost elegant austerity to the album's sound, but what ultimately brings the songs into focus is the band's ultra-efficient playing, which is so sparing you'd think the recording studio charged them by the note." ''The Ottawa Citizen'' concluded that Nada Surf "may have been moulded by a superior studio presence, but the root of their sound, guitar-driven and heavy on the backbeat, speaks of an energy that was harnessed and focused, not manufactured."
