Nabilah Lubis
Nabilah Lubis (born Nabilah ‘Abdel Fattah, ar-at, نبيلة عبد الفتاح, Nabīlah ʻAbd al-Fattaḥ, on March 14, 1942) is an Indonesian philologist, writer, translator and lecturer. Nabilah is an Egyptian woman who was married by a Batak Mandailing man from Medan named Burhanuddin Umar Lubis, so she changed her last name to Nabilah Lubis. Career After Lubis completed her doctoral education at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute (IAIN Jakarta, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta) in 1992, she became the first female doctorate at IAIN Jakarta. Nahdlatul Ulama (, , NU) is an Islamic organization in Indonesia. Its membership estimates range from 40 million (2013) to over 95 million (2021), making it the largest Islamic organization in the world. NU also is a charitable body funding schools and hospitals as well as organizing communities to help alleviate poverty. The NU was founded in 1926 by a ''ulema'' and merchants to defend both traditionalist Islamic practices (in accordance with Shafi'i school) and its members' economic interests. Hidayatullah is an Islamic mass organization based in Indonesia, founded in 1973. It is aimed at propagation of puritanical interpretation of Islam, and ''dawah'' ( proselytization). The organization operates pesantren (Islamic seminary), mass media, women's division, and coop.
