Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang (Birth name, née Sam; born 22 November 1951) is a Ghanaian academic and politician who currently serves as the eighth Vice President of Ghana, vice president of Ghana under President John Mahama since 7 January 2025. She previously served as Minister for Education (Ghana), Minister for Education from February 2013 to January 2017 under President Mahama's First presidency of John Mahama, first administration. She is a professor of literature, and served as the first female Vice-Chancellor of a state university in Ghana when she took over as Chancellor (education), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. Naana Otoo-Oyortey is a Ghanaian social activist, the executive director of the Foundation for Women's Health, Research and Development. Early life and education Otoo-Oyortey was born in Ghana. She completed a master's of philosophy at the University of Sussex. She was a member of the Institute of Development Studies, where she worked on gender issues in Ghana. Career Otoo-Oyortey worked at the International Planned Parenthood Federation, where she investigated child marriage and poverty. She believes that to achieve gender equality the world must address violence against women and the socio-cultural norms that accept this behaviour. She is concerned that domestic violence results in women not protecting themselves from sexually transmitted infections. Naana Eyiah is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the New Patriotic Party. She is the former member of parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana. Naana Oppon
Naana Oppon (born 2006) is a British athlete who competes in trampoline gymnastics. Personal life Oppon began tumbling at the age of four, attracted by the power the sport requires. She admires Simone Biles and has said that she hopes to inspire other black girls to take up tumbling. Her father, and previously her mother, works at two jobs to support her gymnastics career. Career Oppon competed in the junior division of the 2022 European Championships and contributed to a team gold medal. In November, she won the tumbling event in her age group at the 2022 World Age Group Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria. She made her senior debut at the World Cup in Coimbra, where she won silver, which she called a "very gratifying and a self-affirming experience".
