NYIT
The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT or New York Tech) is a private research university founded in 1955. It has two main campuses in New York—one in Old Westbury, on Long Island, and one in Manhattan. Additionally, it has a cybersecurity research lab and a biosciences, bioengineering lab in Old Westbury, as well as campuses in Arkansas, United Arab Emirates, China, and Canada. The New York Institute of Technology Computer Graphics Lab is an important environment in the history of computer graphics and animation, as founders of Pixar and Lucasfilm began their research there. NYIT Bears
The New York Tech Bears refer to the mascot and sports teams of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), located in Old Westbury, New York, United States. All of New York Tech's teams compete in NCAA Division II. The Bears are part of the East Coast Conference (ECC). Tech is best known for its men's lacrosse team, which has won four NCAA Division II national championships. Tech also sent several runners to the Olympic Games, in 1980, 1988, 1992, and in 2000. As of August 2020, NYIT has its intercollegiate NCAA D-II athletics activities currently suspended for at least two years, and will be expected to return back to active competition by the 2022-23 academic year. Hank Foley
Henry C. "Hank" Foley is the current president of New York Institute of Technology, serving since June 1, 2017. Education Foley earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Providence College, a master's degree in chemistry from Purdue University, and doctorate in physical and inorganic chemistry from Penn State. Academic work and career Foley was most recently the interim chancellor of the University of Missouri, appointed on Nov. 10, 2015. Formerly, he was executive vice president for academic affairs for the UM System. Foley also served as vice president at Penn State and dean of Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology, and has held the positions of named chair, department head, associate vice president for research, and director of strategic initiatives at Penn State. The East Coast Conference (ECC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. Central Islip, New York
Central Islip is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the Town of Islip in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 34,450 at the 2010 census. History and overview Prior to the arrival of European settlers, the Secatogue tribe of Algonquin native-American people lived in the area now known as Central Islip. In 1842, the Long Island Rail Road's eastward expansion reached the area, and the Suffolk County Station was opened up. The Suffolk County Station, became the commercial center for housing. With that being done the name Central Islip was thus born, and applied to a new station built in 1873 further to the east.
