NXT The Great American Bash (2023)
The 2023 NXT The Great American Bash was the 11th Great American Bash professional wrestling event produced by WWE, and 25th Great American Bash event overall. It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. Unlike the previous three years, which aired as television specials of '' NXT'', the 2023 event aired as a livestreaming event, marking the first Great American Bash to air on both Peacock and the WWE Network. It took place on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park, Texas. Seven matches were contested at the event, including one on the pre-show. In the main event, Carmelo Hayes defeated Ilja Dragunov to retain the NXT Championship. Deveon Everhart Aikens (born November 2, 1988) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Wes Lee, and is the current NXT North American Champion in his first reign. He is also former two-time WWE NXT Tag Team Champion. He is best known for his time in Impact Wrestling under the ring name Dezmond Xavier (or simply Dez). He is well known as a member of The Rascalz with Zachary Wentz, Trey Miguel, and Myron Reed. WWE Brand Extension
The brand extension, also referred to as the brand split, is the separation of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE's roster of wrestlers (and, at various times, creative staff) into distinct divisions, or "brands". The promotion's wrestlers are assigned to a brand via the annual WWE Draft and exclusively perform on that brand's weekly television show, with some exceptions. The NXT Women's Championship is a women's professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. It is defended on the NXT brand division, the promotion's developmental territory. Introduced on April 5, 2013, the inaugural champion was Paige. Madison Knisely (born September 9, 2003) is an American professional wrestler and gymnast. She is currently signed to WWE where she performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Thea Hail and is a member of Chase University. Early life Maddie Knisley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The NXT North American Championship is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. It is primarily defended as the secondary men's championship of the NXT brand division, the promotion's developmental territory. The current champion is Wes Lee, who is in his first reign. Adeel Alam (born March 28, 1986) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Mustafa Ali. Prior to signing with WWE, Alam worked on the independent circuit after his debut in 2003, while also working as a police officer in a Chicago suburb for four years.
