NTW-20
The NTW-20 is a South African anti-materiel rifle, developed by Denel Mechem in the 1990s. It is intended for deployment against targets including parked aircraft, telecommunication masts, power lines, missile sites, radar installations, refineries, satellite dishes, gun emplacements, bunkers, and personnel, using a range of specialised projectiles. Development The weapon was designed by Tony Neophytou (co-designer of the Neostead combat shotgun). Development of the system began in August 1995 under the "Aerotek" name and a working prototype was ready for testing four and a half months later. This rapid progress was made possible by Neophytou's expertise in the field of recoil reduction systems, having worked on helicopter turrets in the past. 20×82mm
The 20×82mm (sometimes 20×82mm Mauser) is a German 20 mm caliber Cartridge (firearms), cartridge developed during World War II for the MG 151/20 cannon. It continues to see usage today with the South-African Vektor GA-1 autocannon and Denel NTW-20 anti-material rifle and some remaining users of the MG 151/20. Usage The cartridge was developed in Nazi Germany during World War II as a necked-up 20 mm variant of the 15×96mm cartridge in use with the MG 151/15 heavy aircraft machinegun. The 15 mm caliber proved to be insufficient for aircraft use and it was thus decided to redevelope the cartridge into 20 mm caliber, by shortening and necking-up the casing, and installing the 20 mm mine shells of the MG FF cannon, MG FF/M. By necking up the existing cartridge, the MG 151/15 guns could easily be converted by a barrel switch, creating the MG 151/20. Vidhwansak
Vidhwansak (Sanskrit: "Destroyer") is an Indian multi-caliber anti-materiel rifle (AMR) or large-caliber sniper rifle manufactured by Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli. It can be used in the anti-materiel role for destroying enemy bunkers, lightly armoured vehicles, radar systems, communication equipment, parked aircraft, fuel storage facilities, etc. It is also effective in long-range sniping, counter sniping, and ordnance disposal roles. Development The Ordnance Factory Tiruchirapalli in association with the Defence Research and Development Organisation developed an anti-materiel rifle Vidhwansak in November 2005. RT-20 (rifle)
The RT-20 is a Croatian bullpup anti-materiel rifle developed by Metallic in Rijeka in the mid-1990s and marketed by RH-Alan. The name itself is an acronym of the Croatian word Ručni Top 20, or "Hand Cannon 20mm". Operating with a bolt action, it houses a single 20mm round and must be reloaded after each shot. Given its large caliber, it is one of the most powerful anti-materiel rifles currently in use by any country and is comparable to the South African Denel NTW-20 and the Indian Vidhwansak. Specifications A unique feature of the weapon is the counter-recoil reactive tube above the barrel.
