NOS Alive!
NOS Alive (formerly Optimus Alive) is an annual music and arts festival held in the Algés riverside, close to Lisbon, in Portugal. It is organized since 2007 by the Portuguese live entertainment company Everything is New. Its naming sponsor is telecommunications company NOS (previously named Optimus). It takes place during the second week of July and lasts 3 or 4 days. It currently has six stages, including a stage dedicated to fado music and a stage dedicated to stand-up comedy. History The Alive festival was created by the live entertainment company Everything is New in 2007. The name of the festival is taken from the Pearl Jam song " Alive". The first edition occurred between 8 and 10 June 2007, under the name Oeiras Alive!, and had two stages. The headliners were Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins and the Beastie Boys. Beastie Boys
The Beastie Boys were an American Hip-hop, hip hop and Rap rock, rap rock group formed in New York City in 1979. They were composed of Ad-Rock, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar), Adam Yauch, Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Mike D, Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums). The Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band the Young Aborigines, which was formed in 1979, with Diamond on drums, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry (Beastie Boys), John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach later joining on percussion. Da Weasel
Da Weasel are a Portuguese hip hop/rap rock band from Almada, fronted by MCs Pacman (now known as Carlão) and Virgul. They are one of the oldest hip-hop projects in Portugal, having been formed in 1993 and terminated in 2010, and known for being a full session band, instead of relying on a DJ and samples. The band announced their reunion in 2019. Their music uses elements from hard rock, pop and ska. Career Da Weasel's first release was the EP ''More Than 30 Motherfuckers'', featuring only six songs, all in English. The group featured Pacman as the MC, Pedro Quaresma, Jay Jay Neige, Guilherme Silva and João Fagulha on live instruments, Yen Sung as backup vocalist and Armando Teixeira as DJ and producer. Blasted Mechanism
Blasted Mechanism is a Portuguese electro-rock band known for its highly theatrical live shows involving elaborated alien-themed costumes as a backdrop to their music. The band was founded in 1995 by Karkov and Valdjiu. New members joined later to form the current line up. As they like to put it "they weren't created but invented", blasting into the Portuguese music scene with a very different sound and visuals. They quickly became known for their extravagant audiovisual performances involving alien and tribal looking musicians and an irreverent, upbeat attitude. Linha De Cascais
The Cascais Line () is a Portugal, Portuguese Railway, railway line which connects the municipalities of Lisbon, Oeiras, Portugal, Oeiras, and Cascais. The line starts in Lisbon, at Cais do Sodré railway station, Cais do Sodré and ends in Cascais. The first section, from Cascais to Pedrouços railway station, Pedrouços, was opened in 1889. The line was completed in 1895. It was the first Passenger rail terminology#Heavy rail, heavy rail line to be electrified in Portugal, in 1926, and the last to be integrated into Comboios de Portugal, CP, in 1977. In July, 2020, CP announced that the line is slated to be converted from 1500 V DC electrification, to 25 kV AC, to match the rest of the network.
