Nijmeegse Mixed Hockey Club Nijmegen, commonly known as Nijmegen, is a Dutch field hockey club based in Nijmegen, Gelderland. It was founded on 15 September 1906 and it has a total number of 1,783 members. The first men and women's teams compete on the second highest level of Dutch field hockey, which is called the "Promotieklasse". Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond
The Royal Dutch Hockey Association ( nl, Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond, KNHB) is the official governing body of Field hockey in the Netherlands. It governs both the indoor and outdoor field hockey leagues, as well as the Netherlands men's national field hockey team, Netherlands national field hockey team and the Netherlands women's national field hockey team. Originally, the association was also responsible for bandy in the Netherlands, but that sport is now governed by Bandy Bond Nederland. Origin At its foundation in 1898 as the Nederlandsche Hockey & Bandy Bond (NHBB) in the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam, the KNHB consisted of five clubs practicing field hockey as well as bandy. Bandy got sidelined quickly in the organisation's program due to the fact that because of the Oceanic climate, Dutch climate bandy couldn't be practised a lot. Eefke Mulder
Eefke Mulder (born 13 October 1977 in Nijmegen, Gelderland) is a Dutch field hockey player, who played as a midfielder for Dutch club NMHC Nijmegen. She made her debut for the Netherlands national team on 2 June 1997 at the Champions Trophy in Berlin. Mulder was a member of the Dutch squad that won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She was also part of the Dutch squad that became World Champions at the 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup in Madrid. Roderick Weusthof
Roderick Weusthof (born 18 May 1982 in Nijmegen) is a field hockey player from the Netherlands. Weusthof was part of the Dutch national team for the 2004 Champions Trophy in Lahore where the Dutch won the silver medal. In 2005 in Chennai they won another silver medal at the same event as well as at the European Championships in Leipzig. His first international gold medal was won in Terrassa in 2007 at the Champions Trophy. In addition the next gold medal was at the 2007 European Championships in Manchester, but in between they performed under their standards at the World Championships in Mönchengladbach with only a seventh position. Maud Mulder
Maud Mulder (born 17 November 1981 in Nijmegen, Netherlands) is a Dutch singer who rose to popularity after placing second in '' Idols Netherlands 2'', the Dutch version of '' Pop Idol'', shown by RTL 4. She is also a professional field hockey player with hoofdklasse side NMHC Nijmegen. On 12 March 2006, Mulder participated in the national Dutch Song Contest finals. However, the jury considered the three songs she performed to be without any potential for the Eurovision, since they were like many of The Netherlands' previous (unsuccessful) entries. Apart from that, her vocal performances were weak due to an inflammation of the throat. Maud became third out of three, only just beat by rock band ''Behave''. Marsha Marescia
Marsha Cox (née Marescia; born 13 January 1983 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal) is a field hockey player from South Africa, who was a member of the national squad that finished 9th at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. The midfielder comes from Durban, and is nicknamed ''Nator''. She plays for the provincial team Southern Gauteng. International career Marsha is the South African team captain. She made her début in October 2001 at the age of 18 and has since gone on to represent her country at three Olympic Games and two World Cups, earning over 300 caps. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick.
