The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is a Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India Government of India, set up in 2014 and is responsible for management of a network of over 10,000 km of National Highways out of 1,15,000 km in India. National highways have flyover access or some controlled-access, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover. Z-Morh Tunnel
The Sonamarg Tunnel () is a road tunnel connecting Gagangir and Sonamarg, in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It carries two lanes of National Highway 1. It bypasses a Z-shaped stretch of road, which used to be avalanche-prone and get blocked during the winter months due to heavy snowfall. However now the tunnel provides all-weather connectivity to the Sonamarg. It takes only 15 minutes to travel the 6.5 km long tunnel compared to hours over the previous zig-zag road. Together with the adjacent Zoji-La Tunnel, this geostrategically important tunnel provides year-round all-weather connectivity to Baltal (Amarnath cave), Kargil and other places in Ladakh, enhances Indian military logistics and boosts tourism and local economy. The National Highways Authority of India or NHAI () is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1995 (Act 1988) and is responsible for management of a road network of over 50,000 km of National highways out of 1,32,499 km in India. Zoji-la Tunnel
Zoji La Tunnel is an under-construction 9.5 m wide, 7.57 m high and 14.2 km long, horseshoe-shaped single-tube, 2 lane road tunnel at the height of around 12,000 feet above sea level which passes under the Zoji La pass in the Himalayas between Sonamarg, Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir and Dras, Kargil district of Ladakh. The project cost for this smart tunnel (SCADA) system, constructed using the New Austrian tunneling method and equipped with CCTV, radio control, uninterrupted power supply, ventilation, etc is INR 8,308 crore (~US$1.04 billion) as per 2021 estimates. Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge
The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge is an under-construction four lane extradosed cable stay bridge over the Brahmaputra River between Assam and Meghalaya in North-East India. The Dhubri-Phulbari bridge, to be completed by 2028, would be India's second longest bridge over water after the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, and would span more than 19 km. This bridge, close to the Bangladesh border, will connect Assam's Dhubri with Meghalaya's Phulbari. It will fill in a missing link of National Highway 127B, connecting Dhubri by road to Tura, Nongstoin, and other towns in western and central Meghalaya. Civil works started in 2019–2020.
